SEC Bans Binance Nigeria Limited: It Is An Illegal Entity by nairalandkachy1: 9:48am On Jun 10, 2023

The attention of the Securities and Exchange Commission (the Commission) has been drawn to the website operated by Binance Nigeria Limited, soliciting the Nigerian public to trade crypto assets on its various web and mobile-enabled platforms.

Binance Nigeria Limited is neither registered nor regulated by the Commission and its operations in Nigeria are therefore illegal. Any member of the investing public dealing with the entity is doing so at his/her own risk.

As the regulator with the statutory mandate of investor protection, the Commission urges Nigerians to be wary of investing in crypto-assets, and crypto-asset related financial products and services if the service provider/its platform is not registered or regulated by the Commission. Nigerian investors are hereby warned that investing in crypto-assets is extremely risky and may result in total loss of their investment.

By this circular, Binance Nigeria Limited is hereby directed to immediately stop soliciting Nigerian investors in any form whatsoever.

The Commission shall provide updates on further regulatory actions with respect to the activities of Binance Nigeria Limited, and other similar platforms and shall work with other regulators in Nigeria to provide further guidance on this matter.

First you ban crypto, how did you expect them to get your so called license?

Anyway, now that the ban on crypto has been lifted, I believe Binance will do the needful and regularize their position.

While it is right that operators of digital assets needs to be regulated and ensure customers money is in safe hands, the government regulatory bodies such as this fake SEC of Nigeria are financial hypocrites and thieves and worse than the digital assets companies they are trying to regulate.

Nigerians would rather keep their money with Binance where the money is safe and very low inflation than keep it in Nigeria banks where the government keeps printing money out of thin air leading to inflation.

Crypto issa SCAM.

Until there is a central regulator that we can turn to like in CBN for real money....crypto is just paper money with no regulation.

In developed countries, Crypto exchange trading rate obeys the country's exchange policies (for the host country against other countries).

In Nigeria, CBN exchange rate is around 460 naira to dollar. Crypto has never obeyed this, not even once.
Their exchange rate is usually around 740 to 840 therefore contributing to the downfall of Naira while promoting the dollar.

Even payment company like PayPal had to obey every countries monetary policy. It's either you accept it or you don't operate there. It's simple.

Nigerians should shun crypto for now until they take our monetary policy seriously. Right now, we are helping them to destroy our economy.
