Mine Not Yours

CHAPTER 6
Days later, all the test results came out. Dammy took it upon herself to take the results to Imade at her place of work. Luckily for Dammy, Imade wasn’t attending to any client when she got there.
“Hello sister…..” Dammy said as she hugged her.
“That’s new,” she smiled at the word sister. “But I love it.” Dammy too smiled back as she took her seat. “How are you doing and the baby?” Imade asked, pointing to her belly.
“We are both good. Thanks.”
“I’m glad to hear that and thanks so much for the other day.”
“You need not thank me sis. Anyways, the test results are out.” Dammy informed and Imade lost her cool immediately, Dammy noticed. “Calm down…..Will you?”
Imade exhaled heavily. “Okay, go ahead.”
Dammy brought out two big white envelops from her bag and placed them on the table. It was the code name that was written on it.
“I’m sorry…..” She was saying but Imade almost jump out of her skin. “……there is no cause for alarm Imade. All your test results shows that you are medically okay and fit to conceive and even carry the pregnancy to term.” Dammy informed and Imade made a sigh of relief.
“Dammy, you need to go and take Frank Edoho’s job.”
“You mean the ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ guy?”
“Yes, you almost gave me hypertension Dammy.” Imade said and she laughed.
“All is well my darling sister. Your face show, your shoe shine.” She said playfully. Imade shook her head and smiled. “One more thing. I already showed all these results to my gynecologist friend. I have her look into it and she said the results were perfect.”
“So do we have cases where a woman is medically okay and still unable to conceive?”
“Yes, you know…..” She was saying but Imade cut in.
“God gives children, I shouldn’t have even ask you that question.”
“Just relax, the baby will come.”
“Okay.”
“Imade can I tell you the simple truth?”
“Yes, go ahead.”
“Your husband needs to get tested.”
“Ah….” Imade sighed again.
“Imade you are fine medically, so he needs to check himself as well before we can ascertain anything.” Dammy stated. Imade tapped her table with her right fingers repeatedly thinking of what to do and how to go about it.
“I need to go through your husband to achieve that.”
“I think that will work, let’s go for it.” Dammy supported the move.
“I’ll have to open up to him that I had got myself tested without Yomade’s knowledge and I’d want him to also lure him into doing same.”
“Brilliant idea.”
“But don’t worry, your name will not pop up in the conversation.” Imade assured Dammy.
“God bless you for that. He may flare up if he realized what we did because it’s unprofessional.” Dammy stated but in Imade’s mind she laughed. ‘If only Dammy knew the unprofessional stuff that her husband has done in the name of family and friendship.’ But Dammy was smart enough to read Imade’s body language.
“What?”
“What! Nothing.”
“Imade, spill it. I saw your countenance when I said my last statement.”
“Well, you caught me but it’s better if you don’t know.”
“Seriously, I thought we now open up……”
“Fine!! I’ll tell you. This is it, Myself, Yomade and Tobi swapped the semen my sister was supposed to use for her IVF procedures.” She revealed.
“The three of you did what!”
“My point is that, it’s not just you who did unprofessional stuff in the name of friendship. Your husband once did too.” Imade stated.
“Wow! The law abiding Tobi. First, he endorsed an abortion and now this!”
“We do some ridiculous things at times just to protect our loved ones.”
“Hmm……you are right.”
“Remember I said he referred me to another doctor for the procedure, I mean the abortion and also we kept all these secrets from his father. Your father in-law knew nothing about it.”
“Wow!”
“One more thing. Yomade and I never mentioned Tobi’s name when his father later found out that we swapped the semen.
“You guys are bunch of criminals you know.” Dammy said playfully. Imade laughed briefly.
“So, I think with all these information, there’s no point hiding things from your husband. You can tell him all you did for me and present Yomade’s case as well.
“I’m supposed to do that?”
“Of course, I just gave you the go ahead.”
“Alright, I’ll talk to him when he get home tonight and I’ll get back to you.”
“Thank you so….much.” Dammy decided to take her leave, Imade’s receptionist had already beeped her. A client is already waiting at the reception. Imade saw her off to the car park, she returned and then ushered in her client.

*******
That evening, when Tobi and his wife lay on bed to sleep, Dammy told him they need to talk so they sit up and she brought up the issue of the secret that her husband, Yomade and Imade shared including what she herself did for Imade some days ago.
“Imade opened up to you!”
“Yes, I know everything Tobi.”
“I can never say no to Yomade, he’s one family I hold dear to heart.”
“Same way I couldn’t say no to Imade when she requested I run those test.”
“You are right. Things we do for our loved ones.” Tobi gestured with his hands.
“Yeah…..Now I have a request to make.”
“Request! Okay, I’m listening.”
“Imade test results were all good so…..”
“Yomade need to get tested too.” Tobi took the words from his wife’s mouth.
“God bless you. You are in the Spirit.” She said pointing to him.
“I’ll talk to him about it.”
“Not just talk, you must talk him into taking the test.”
“I’ll try.”
“Please do my love. Thank you, we can go to sleep now.”
“Sleep! Nothing for Daddy tonight?” Tobi asked smiling.
“Oga! Somebody is tired o.”
“Seriously, but you weren’t tired to go and play ‘the good friend’ at Imade’s.” Tobi quoted with his fingers.
“Now you are blackmailing me.” Dammy said playfully and he laughed. He grabbed her gently from behind, she eyed Tobi but she eventually allow him have his way. They made love and slept off afterwards.

The next day, Tobi left the house very early in the morning to go block Yomade at his place of work. His first appointment for that day is 10am, so he planned to return to the hospital before then.
Yomade’s intercom rang. He picked it. “Yes, please.”
“Your cousin, Doctor Tobi Adedeji is here to see you sir.”
“Did you just say my cousin?” Surprised Yomade questioned his secretary.
“Yes sir.” His secretary, Biola replied. Yomade checked the time, it was past eight in the morning.
“Let him in.” He said.
Tobi walked in and met Yomade already standing to receive him. “Hope all is well Tobi?”
“All is well, relax. Is that why you are standing.”
“One, you are always busy. And two, this is just past eight. Hope you are fine?”
“I’m fine.”
“And your wife?”
“She made me tea before I left the house this morning, so she’s fine.” Tobi replied him. Yomade made a sigh of relief. “Have your seat.” Yomade showed him to the couch, he left his seat to join Tobi too.
“I have 10am appointment and my schedules are tight for the day. So my best shot is to come here early. And I know you will already be at work, reason why I didn’t bother to call.” Tobi explained.
“Okay. So to what do I owe this visit?”
“Well, I’m sorry to disturb your work but I won’t take long.”
“No problem. It’s okay.”
“Yomade, I have a request and if I mean anything to you, I just want you to oblige me.” Tobi intentionally stress the word ‘If I mean anything to you.’
“Ah…..” Yomade was like, ‘what could the request be.’ What if the request is something hard to fulfill. He listened as Tobi continued.
“I am not here to deliberate the matter with you Yomade, I’m here to tell you what I want you to do for me.”
“Hmm….you’ve sacrificed a lot for me Tobi even when your license is as stake, you still went all the way for me. What do you need me do?” Yomade asked.
“I need you to go for a test. We need to know what’s up with you. Contrary to your thought, the problem might be from you and not your wife. Can you do that for me?” He asked and Yomade sighed deeply.
“I made the decision with my wife. I can’t get tested behind her.” Yomade beckoned.
“Trust me, I got it sorted out. You just go for the test.”
“Tobi, my wife…..”
“Yomade, I just told you to trust me. I got this.”
“Okay. I’ll go for the test.”
“Good. Thanks for honouring me cuz.”
“Anything for you. When do you want me to come?”
“Can you make it tomorrow?”
“Hmm…I should. I’ll try.”
“Good.”
“Your hospital or Dad’s?” Yomade asked.
“Hmm…mine, just for the test alone. If you’ll be needing treatment, then you can go to Dad’s, you know that is his specialty.”
“Okay. See you tomorrow then.”
“By God’s grace.” Tobi stood up. “Allow me take my leave.”
“Thank you so much Tobi.”
“You’re welcome. Bye.” Tobi said and then took his leave.
The next day, Yomade left the house very early for the hospital, his cousin Tobi was already on ground too by the time he arrived the hospital. Tobi followed Yomade to where he had the test and in less than hour, he was through and then left the hospital for work. He did all this without his wife’s knowledge but he was trying to trust Tobi, who gave him his words.

*******
Some days later, the test results were all ready. Tobi also decided to deliver the results himself just like what his wife did, He called Yomade on phone.
“Are you in the office?” Tobi asked.
“Yes.” Yomade replied him.
“I’ll be there in…..” He checked his wrist watch. “……say thirty minutes.” He informed him.
“Is the result out, I can come over to….”
“Guy….I’ll bring it.”
“Okay then, I’ll be expecting you.” Yomade muttered and Tobi ended the call.
Tobi left his office and went straight to the parking lot where he parked his car. He settled in the car and called his wife and informed her of where he is heading too. Dammy didn’t ask questions about Yomade’s result, it’s not in her place to do that.
Some minutes later, Tobi was in Yomade office with the test result in his hands. He handed them to him and Yomade went through it.
“You are good.” Tobi said to his cousin as he was looking through the papers.
“Wow!”
“Ye….p, medically, you are okay. You can father a child.” Tobi buttressed. Yomade sighed.
“Okay. I think we are good now. I’ve fulfilled your wish.”
“Yes you have.” Tobi smiled.
“You are smiling right, just know that this is on you Tobi. If my wife finds out and throw me out of the house. You will……..” Yomade pointed at his cousin and Tobi laughed.
“She can never do such.” Tobi cut in.
“Oh! Now you know my wife more than me right.”
“Just talk to her about the test result tonight.”
“Really, you really think it’s that simple, right. I went ahead and get tested behind her back. Tobi, I need to remind you that I was the one who decided on this no-test rule.”
“Of course I know and even your wife knew why you made that decision. It’s called fear of the unknown.” Tobi pointed out and laughed.
“You are still laughing, right. Call it anything, na you sabi.” Yomade said in pidgin.
“Na fear catch you my guy.” Tobi replied in pidgin too. “The two of you should go and relax and in doing that, don’t forget to enjoy your sex life. Don’t mount unnecessary pressure on yourself and you guys should not overstress yourselves. The baby will come.” Tobi counseled and patted his cousin’s back.
“Thank you so much.” The both of them stood up, shook hands and Tobi left the place. In his car, before he turned on the ignition, he placed a call.
“The test results are good, tell him everything tonight.” Tobi said to Imade who was happy to hear the news and then ended the call.

Tobi entered his office and met his wife sitting on his chair. “Madam, when did you become a consultant?” He joked because she was sitting on his seat.
“How far.”
“What nau?” Tobi feigned ignorance.
“The result of course.”
“Oh! Doctor-patient confidentiality.”
“Seriously!”
“Did you tell me anything about your own patient? I mean Imade.”
“I sha later tell you.”
“Okay….me too, I’ll tell you after my friend give me the clearance to do that.”
“Sweetheart!”
“Is that not what happened in the case of your friend. Me too I’m protecting my cousin’s interest.” While the two were still at it, Dammy’s phone rang. Then she gave her husband a ‘tongue out.’
“It’s Imade.” She eyed her husband playfully and picked the call.
“My love.” Dammy said to Imade as she picked the call and Tobi opened his mouth. “Really, Imade is now your love?” She eyed her husband again.
“Is that not Tobi’s voice I’m hearing.”
“You are right, I’m in his office.”
“I know he may not tell you about Yomade’s results.”
“He did not jare. That’s what I am still dragging with him.” Dammy informed and Imade laughed.
“The results came out good by the way.”
“Thank God…..” Dammy took a breath of relief.
“It was your husband who called to inform me, I guess he did that after speaking to Yomade.”
“I guess so too because he just got back. I am just grateful to God for this news.”
“Same here o….”
“And please you need to tell him everything too.”
“Sure, I will.”
“Good. So you guys should just go and relax, I don’t mean in the other room sha.” Dammy said and they both laughed, even Tobi shook his head, looking at his wife and her drama.

Imade left her office very early and went home to prepare a sumptuous meal. She first stopped at the market to get one or two things and then went home. Her husband returned home and after he was done changing, he returned to the dining where the table is already set. They ate together and Yomade couldn’t stop praising his wife for the delicacy she prepared.
“For this meal to be ready by this time, it means you left work early.” Yomade declared.
“Yes.”
“Thank you. I enjoyed the food.”
“Thank you too for providing the food.” She replied with a smile. Yomade helped her out in the kitchen as they do the dishes together and tidy up the place. They went back to their room, there’s another TV in the room that Yomade just bought some days ago. Imade put the TV on and as she was trying to increase the volume, Yomade spoke up.
“Darling, can you please put off the TV. There’s something I’d like to discuss with you.”
“Okay.” She replied and put off the TV. He gestured for his wife to sit on the only sofa in the bedroom. She obeyed while Yomade sat on the bed which is opposite the sofa. The two facing each other from a little distant.
“Imade I wronged you, I don’t have any excuse for doing what I did but….”
“I know everything Sweetheart.”
“Wait! You know what I’m about to say?”
“Yes.”
“Is that why Tobi said…..”
“I went for the fertility test first but when the result came out all positive, I decided to talk to your cousin and that was how he made you take the test as well. So we are even.”
“Really. You guys did all that behind me?”
“I should be the one apologizing since I was the one who made the first move.” She said and then explained everything to her husband in details.
“It’s okay, at least now my fear is gone.”
“Yes our fear is gone and I believe the baby will come at the right time.”
“By God’s grace. I believe so too.” Yomade said and walked up to his wife and lifted her from the sofa. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” She replied and the two kissed each other passionately. He carried her off her feet and walked down to the bed and lay her gently on it.
“Dammy said we should not relax in the other room.”
“Her husband also told me lot of things.” Yomade said and they both smiled. He took her lips again and some seconds later, they were already making love to each other.

******
Weeks later, Dammy gave Imade a call, screaming with joy on the phone. “What is it sweetheart, please calm down so I can enjoy the good news abeg.”
“How do you know it is good news?” Dammy asked, panting on the phone.
“Oh! So you’ve met someone who get excited like this over bad news abi. Just tell me already.”
“Imade you said so o…..You are right at the end of the day.”
“Can you please spill it already Dammy, you are good in keeping someone in suspense jo.”
“My ex called Imade!”
“Okay…..”She said urging her to go on with the gist.
“He is getting married next month.”
“Wow!!!! This is good news. I’m so happy for him.”
“Guess what?”
“What?”
“I asked him ‘Lucious what took you so long?’ Guess what his replied was.”
“Of course you know I know what his reply was.”
“Imade….you are right o, he said he can never get married before me. He said he did not want me to go through another form of emotional stress all over again.”
“Aww……I’m blushing right now. What a wonderful man.”
“You can say that again.”
“His wife is blessed.”
“Yes, she is and I pray, he will enjoy his home just like I am enjoying mine.”
“Amen!”
“That would be all for now. Bye see you…….” She was saying but then paused. “When are we even going to meet?” Dammy asked.
“Hmm…..come to my place with your husband next weekend if he is free.”
“That’s true o, it’s been long we called at your place. I pray Tobi is free, and if he is not. I will carry myself there.”
“No problem.”
“By the way, we are all going to the wedding together. I already told him I am coming with plus three.”
“Only you! You are going with plus three. Pity the couple nau…..”
“It’s a big wedding o. My ex’s is rich o. In case I forgot to mention that.”
“Really! Count me in.”
“Alright, so it’s gonna be you, me and our husbands.” Dammy stated.
“By God’s grace.” The called ended and Imade sighed. She did not know the guy in person but he loves his personality already. ‘What a great guy.’ She thought.
When Imade was still pondering on the last call she received, Lolu’s call popped in. She picked the call.
“Uncle Lolu, I can count the number of times we spoke in the last three years but all of a sudden we became regulars with calls. What happened?”
“Your three years wedding anniversary happened.” He stated and Imade shook her head slowly.
“Not again….Uncle Lolu.”
“If you don’t have your child soonest, I may die of guilt Imade.”
“Uncle Lolu, you shall not die but live.”
“Then, what is happening over there that you are not telling me?”
“Nothing nau….I hope you are not thinking my husband is impotent.” Imade laughed.
“That is why I want to know what exactly is going on. Imade, don’t hide anything from me.”
“I am not hiding….”
“Imade…..”
“At this rate, I doubt if you will not come down to Nigeria to supervise my husband and I just to ensure we make babies.”
“What are you trying to say now?”
“I’m saying, if you can have your way, you will come supervise us when we are having sex. So you can be sure we are doing it properly.”
“I have a wife, I don’t need to watch porn.” He stated and Imade burst into laughter. Lolu waited for her to laugh to her fill, then he spoke up.
“What about the test we talked about Imade?”
“Relax……We’ve done that and my husband and I are fine.”
“Imade….”
“Uncle Lolu, medically, I am fine. The abortion affected nothing. I know that is what you want to hear.”
“I think I’m a bit relieved or will you guys come over?”
“Uncle Lolu, our lives are here in Nigeria. We can’t leave, at least not now.”
“Okay. We are praying for you here.”
“I know and I really appreciate your concern, so please put your mind at rest.”
“Okay, I will.”
“What about his parents?” Lolu asked referring to Imade’s Parents in-law.
“They are wonderful Uncle Lolu, no one is putting pressure on us.”
“Good. God bless them for me.” He replied and then ended the call afterwards.

Mine Not Yours

******
Lolu had a white friend in the US, Bradley Gerald by name who is very close to Lolu, they were neighbours when Lolu and his family relocated to US that was the house they first lived in but Lolu and his family moved to another area a year later but ever since then, they’ve been friends. Bradley, is also a married man and he is very dedicated to his family, reason why Lolu really liked him when their path crossed and their spouses are also friends with each other. As a Nigerian living in Nigeria, we hear so many things about the Whites that they are not like us in Africa. We hear that everyone over there mind their business and all but Bradley and his wife; Melly are one of a kind, they are so friendly and accommodating. When the triplets were still very little and adjusting to their new environment, this couple will come in to help out. Melly normally baby sit for them when Lolu and his wife needed to step out of the house to attend to something urgent. This couple have been wonderful and Lolu and his wife never joked with them as well. The Geralds have just one girl, Kerry who is just six years old and they never plan to have another but still they adored the triplet despite the fact that they are not a fan of having a large family.
On this particular day, Melly gave Lolu a call and said that she needs to speak with him urgently. “Can I come over to your place with my wife?” Lolu asked. He needs to go with his wife to avoid stories that touch. Wisdom is profitable to direct, so says the Bible.
“Sure but I don’t want Bradley to be around.” Melly said in her graceful American accent.
“Okay…..you tell me when you feel it’s okay to talk, then my wife and I will come over.”
“Will you be free tomorrow by 7pm, Bradley has a work meeting till 9pm tomorrow.” Melly asked.
“Hmm…..that should be okay. I’ll talk to my wife.” Lolu replied.
“Alright. Thank you so much.”
“You’re most welcome.” He replied and they ended the call.
That night when Lolu got back from work, he told his wife about the conversation she had with Melly earlier in the day and she agreed to go with him.
The next day, Lolu and his wife left home around past six in the evening and before 7pm they were already at the Gerald’s apartment.
Melly welcomed them warmly and after some seconds of a light chit-chat, Melly opened up to them about the things going on in her family.
“Bradley is cheating on me.” She revealed. Lolu and his wife throw a quick glance at each other. Sincerely, it is unbelievable especially for Lolu because one of the reasons why he likes Bradley so much is because of his dedication to his family and one thing Lolu also know for sure is that he loves his wife; Melly.
Lolu cleared his throat first before speaking. “Are this speculations or you caught him red-handed?” He asked Melly.
“Well, I noticed he had changed his phone’s password and the way he now guards the phone jealously made me more curious. I challenged him quite alright and he said he has some office document that mustn’t leak out or something but I didn’t buy that story. We’ve been married for years so definitely I know if something is off and truly things are really changing. Above all, we are now drifting apart, he doesn’t even have time for our normal family chat and all. Although he is cool with Kerry our daughter but…..”
“Melly, this are still speculations….” Lolu was saying but Peju placed her right hand on her husband’s lap. Lolu was sitting next to her right.
“Sweetheart, Melly can’t call us here base on mere speculations.”
“I know this will be too hard to believe for your husband.” Melly said to Peju. “But I have proofs.” Then she turned to Lolu. “I hate divorce as much as God hates it. All I want is for Bradley to stop. That is all I want.” She said and tears starts to run down her face. Peju stood up and gathered Melly in her hands.
“It’s okay dear. It’s okay.” Peju picked a tissue from the tissue box close to her and handed it to Melly. Lolu was lost for words. He stood up too, walk over to Melly’s seat and held her shoulder and squeezed it softly. Melly stood up and walked to the dining to get her phone. She was busy tapping on the phone while the couple watched her. She raised her head when she was through on the phone. Then to Lolu, she said. “I sent the proof, they are screenshots of the conversations Bradley was having with the girl.” Lolu opened his phone and saw the screenshots and quickly read through the chats.
“He’s dating an intern in his office?” Lolu asked and passed his phone to his wife to see the screenshots as well.
“Exactly. Lisa by name.” Melly replied. Peju just read few lines and looked up to face Melly.
“Melly, but you said Bradley had changed his password, how did you get this proof from his phone?” Peju asked.
“Well, when I kept on asking and he kept on denying and making me look like a fool. Imagine, a man I married for years. I decided to give him sleeping pills and then while he was fast asleep. I unlocked his phone using his fingerprint.”
“Wow!” Peju and his husband exclaimed at the same time.
“Peju, I fear your gender.” Lolu shook his head.
“Can you blame us? When you men keep thinking you are the only smart thing that exists on the surface earth.” Peju stated.
“You gerrit.” Melly said to Peju.
“Okay, I’ll talk to him and thank God for this proof, there is no way he’s gonna deny this.” Lolu said and Melly grabbed his hands.
“Please, I’m counting on you. I know he respects you.”
“Don’t count on me. Let’s all prayerfully approach this issue because cases like this are not something that just go away easily. The best shot for any man is never to even get involve in the first place.”
“You mean he may not change?” Melly asked curiously.
“That is not what I meant. Melly, infidelity in marriage is a big deal. I only pray Bradley has not gone far with this girl and that is why I said we have to approach this matter prayerfully as well. Having a conversation man to man with Bradley may not be enough.” Lolu explained and Melly tear-up.
“I don’t want to lose my husband….” Melly wailed. Peju held her, comforting her.
“God forbid it.” Peju calmed her.
“Melly, every home has its own challenges and there is no perfect marriage.”
“But yours is perfect.”
“Really!” Lolu glanced at his wife for an approval and she nodded, so he continued. “Melly, you think our marriage is perfect! I cheated on my wife and in my own case the person is not even a stranger, it’s someone close to the family.”
“It’s a lie.” Melly looked at Peju who attested to what her husband said with a nod. “But…but… here you are, still on your feet as a married couple.”
“Reason why I said, what your home is going through right now is a challenge. If we go about it using the proper channel, then it will go away.”
“I think at this point, let’s pray and fast over it while Lolu approach him.” Peju suggested.
“Okay, I will do anything you ask me to do.”
“Good. Just promise me you will forgive your husband wholeheartedly when he comes back because that is the only way to move on.” Lolu stated.
“God will help me but will things still be the same with Bradley and me?” Melly asked.
“It’s a function of time. My wife and I at first felt like strangers when we came back together and I tell you there are days where some things still feels awkward. There are days when I feel like I am working on an eggshell but with time you will be fine again.
“Hmm, I will ask God for the same grace he gave to your family.”
“Greater grace if I may say.” Peju muttered, she smiled and patted Melly’s back.
“We need to take our leave now.” Lolu announced.
“Thank you so much. Your visit and most especially your life story had lifted my Spirit and I am hopeful that my home will be whole again.”
“Amen.” The couple chorused. They hugged Melly one after the other and then left.

Dammy’s ex, Lucius wedding came, she had already told Imade the colour code for the wedding and every one of them was prepared for the wedding which is strictly by invitation, The four of them set out on that Saturday morning to grace the wedding and Tobi was comfortable with it because he knew the circumstance that led to the breakup. Also Dammy and her ex never had sex while they were dating. In fact, Tobi married her a virgin, so he was super cool to attend the wedding. Yomade and his wife first went to his cousin house in their own car. So from there, the four went in Tobi’s car. Tobi drove while Yomade sat in front with him and the two women sat at the back. The four gist all the way then Yomade remembered something,
“We did not bring gift along. My wife and I just brought a cash gift.” Yomade informed the couple.
“We did the same thing too.” Tobi replied him.
“People prefer cash gift this days.” Dammy chipped in.
“I personally prefer it too.” Imade added. And then they move on to other gist.
The place was a bit far from their destination but they eventually got there before the church wedding service ended. After the church wedding, Dammy had the opportunity to meet with Lucius and his bride during the photograph session and she also introduced her plus three to the newly wedded couple. Lucius did not attend Dammy’s wedding, he wanted to but he was not in town as at that time but he send his congratulatory message and gift. The new groom; Lucius was so happy to meet them, they even took pictures together and afterwards they all left the church for the reception where they had a swell time. Dammy and her crew really had fun at the party, Lucius had already hinted the musician who was playing at the party and gave the musicians their names, so they call the four out to dance. They were so elated, there is nothing good than having a healthy relationship even after break-up.
By the time, they announced to the groom and bride that they were leaving, they packed so many things for them, and thank God they had enough space in the booth to contain them. They really had fun, that is why it is not good to end any relationship with bad bloods and please who said going to an ex wedding doesn’t make sense. For Dammy and her crew it made sense pa.

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes. This is what Proverbs 21 verse 1 says. Lolu, his wife and Melly had done that part, now it is time for Lolu to approach his friend; Bradley. He had called him that he wants them to hang out and they have concluded to meet at Fort Tryon Park which happens to be one of the quiet places in New York. Fort Tryon Park is a designated quiet zone; therefore amplified sound is not permitted except under special circumstances.
Lolu was the first to get there and Bradley show up like some seconds later and the two shook hands and sat on a bench with the sweeping views of the Hudson River before them. After asking after work and family and a little bit chit chat that got them laughing, Lolu switched to the main reason why he called for the hang out. He had already bought canned drinks, so he opened one and handed it to him and he opened a can for himself as well.
“Bradley, I called you out here to have a one-on-one discussion with you as a friend and brother.”
“Oh! I thought this was a normal hang out.”
“Not exactly.”
“Okay…..”
“Can I ask a question first?”
“Yes, go ahead.”
“What’s your take on infidelity?” He asked and Bradley froze. He looked into Lolu’s eyes and then look away.
“Bradley….”
“My wife…” Bradley was about asking how he found out but Lolu cut in.
“Yes.” He replied him and Bradley sighed.
“It wasn’t intentional, she is an intern at my work place and she was posted to my office. She is lively, jovial, smart and of course she is a beauty to behold, I won’t lie about that. I was just fond of her but before I knew it, she had grown on me.” Bradley came out clean.
“Lisa will ruin that happy home of yours.”
“You even know her name!”
“How deep are you into her?” Lolu asked, ignoring his question.
“Quiet deep. Not too deep. I don’t know.” Bradley gestured with his hands.
“Sex?”
“I slept with her just once.” Lolu cocked his head, he didn’t believe him. “Trust me it’s just once and I told her it won’t be happening again.”
“It won’t happen again! You tell that to yourself and you really think so?” Lolu questioned.
“I’ll try and manage the feelings.”
“And you think that will work when she already have you at the grasp of her fingers?”
“Lolu….” Bradley called the name with an American accent.
“Bradley, you need to put a stop to whatever is between you two!”
“Lolu, you can’t understand this things, it’s not easy.”
“I’ve been there Bradley!”
“You’ve been there! Oh….come of it Lolu.” Bradley waved him off. “Are we joking right now?”
“I had cheated on my wife before, Bradley.”
“Hold up.” Bradley paused him. “Are you serious right now?”
“Of course I am, my wife and I were separated for years because of my infidelity.”
“I’m speechless right now Lolu.”
“Once you are into someone else outside your marriage, to rid off such ill feelings is not something that is easy to eradicate.”
“Lolu I really love my wife and I’ve never cheated in all our years of marriage until few months ago. And sincerely, I want to make this go away but I just don’t know how to stop.” Bradley opened up bitterly, he was close to tears.”
“Can you do whatever I ask you to do?”
“Yes, I am willing to do anything.”
“Fine. We are you using both physical and spiritual approach and by spiritual you know what I mean.”
“I understand perfectly well.”
“Good, because the devil too will not want you to stop. In fact, one of his missions is to destroy homes especially godly ones and you know what the Bible says, you have to be violent with the devil too, if not, your home will be on its path to what you never wished or planned for.”
“I get you Lolu.”
“The physical aspect is simple, the same word of God says ‘flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.’ Bradley, you have to flee.”
“You are right I have to flee, I permitted it because I refuse to flee.” He nodded his head slowly.
“Good.”
“I’ll let you know as things goes, I need to be accountable to someone. Can you do that for me?” Bradley asked.
“Sure.”
“Great, I really appreciate your help.”
“That’s why we have each other. By the way, you need to come clean with your wife, she knows everything.”
“My God.” He place his hand on his temple. “How do I face her?”
“Melly loves you, just let her know that you are genuinely sorry and that you are not proud of what you’ve done. Apologize for breaking the marital vow and promise never to go back to that life. If renewing your vows will help, then go ahead and do it.”
“Will my home remain the same again?” Bradley asked calmly.
“Trust is earned my friend, it is not entrusted to anyone. Once trust is broken in a relationship, then you have to try your best to earn it back.” Bradley sighed. Lolu stood up and held his friend by the shoulder.
“Just let God. My life has no meaning until I found Christ, same for my wife.” Lolu pointed out. Bradley stood up and extend his hand for a handshake.
“Thank you so much Lolu.” The two shook hands and Lolu rubbed his friend’s shoulder lightly. Then the two left the park in their respective cars.

CHAPTER 7
Yomade and his wife got an invitation from the church, they were invited for an interview. It was when they got to the place that they were been told that they have been selected for the position of deacon and deaconess in the church. The couple said a vehement NO they only want to serve God wholeheartedly, and they believe they don’t need to hold any office or position in church to do that but after so much persuasion from the church telling them that they deserve it and are qualified for it, they decided to accept the office. The ordination comes up in three months and so they started making preparations.
Finally, Dammy put to bed a bouncing baby boy when Imade and her husband got the news, their joy knew no bounds, they were so happy for the couple. Tobi the new father called them around 4:00am that morning. Imade couldn’t wait for the day to break. It was a work day, so Yomade and his wife had to leave the house very early so that Yomade can check on the couple before he leaves for work. As for Imade she is the CEO of her company, so she doesn’t answer to anybody unlike her husband. They got there and they all hugged each other including the new mum that was sitting on bed. Yomade left afterwards while Imade waited behind just to be there for her friend. She called her office and told Gloria; the receptionist to help her reschedule all appointment she had for that day.
Yomade returned to the hospital from work, she bought food from one the popular eatery in town, they all ate together. Tobi asked one of the nurses to bring in the baby because Yomade did not get to see the baby boy in the morning before he left for work, so the nurse brought in the baby and it was handed to him.
“By this time next year, you and your wife will already have your baby in Jesus name.” Dammy prayed for Yomade wholeheartedly and everyone said amen.

******
Bradley gave Lolu a call and it wasn’t good news at all. He had requested for the transfer of Lisa from his department to another but the company declined claiming she is more needed in Bradley’s department than any other because she is female and she is beautiful. They knew they can gets many clients through her. Lisa’s looks alone will make any man change his mind even if he doesn’t plan to do business with the company in the first place. Some men who don’t plan to invest in real estate had change their minds by just having a one-on one talk with a female real estate agent.
“Lolu, I want to stop but this girl is into me big time.”
“Argh….” Lolu clinched his teeth. “Are they kidding me? She is more needed in your department or she is more needed to destroy your home!”
“I don’t know what else to do and she still have like 6 months to spend with us.”
“God! Good six month!”
“Lolu you are not talking. What do I do now?” Bradley asked and he sighed.
“The only thing left is self-determination and discipline on your part because in this case, you can’t flee and you can’t leave your job for her.”
“Lolu…….” He called out stressing the name with his American accent that makes the name sound like an English name.
“Let’s keep on praying for the grace to overcome this temptation. Also try as much as possible to avoid her. No dates together, no lunch at work place, just stay away till she reads the handwriting on the wall.”
“Okay. God help me.”
“Amen.” He said and they later ended the call.
Lolu returned from work that day, the triplet rushed at him and he picked them up one after the other and peck them on the cheeks.
“My lovelies. How are you doing today?”
“Good Dad…...” They chorused in an American accent. He handed them a pack of goodies he bought for them.
“Oya e gbe wa.” Their Mum charged at them in Yoruba, snapping her fingers, telling them to hand the pack over. They ensured they speak their native language in the house so their children too can understand and also know how to speak it. They are almost four years old. The pack was with the only girl among the triplets, Christina. The boys, Dan and Asher were looking at their sister with the corner of their eyes as if she shouldn’t listen to their mum. Christina grumbly handed the pack to her mum and when Peju collected it, the other two now shifted their gaze to their mum, looking at her with the corner of their eyes. Peju ignored their sad look and walked to her husband who hugged her and pecked her on the cheeks as well.
“They’ve had enough for today.” She said to her husband, holding the pack to his face. Lolu who already knew why his wife took it from the triplets only smiled. Lolu went to the bedroom, while his wife try and psyched the kids, promising them the goodies is all theirs the next day and finally they changed the look on their faces. Peju helped the kids to bed and then return to the bedroom. She met Lolu half unclad, as she sat before him.
“How was your day?” She asked as he pulled off his trousers and dumped them in the laundry basket.
“My day was good. And yours?” Lolu replied her, all he had on now was his boxers. He went into his closet and picked a grey joggers and a black polo and wore them.
“Not bad.” Peju replied.
“Hope the kids didn’t stress you a lot today?”
“I sha survive today’s wahala.” She said and they both laughed. The triplets are quiet handful but they are beauty to behold and the joy they give can’t be compared to anything in this world. Anytime Peju looked at them, she silently prays for her sister and everyone looking up to God for their own children, that God will answer them and settle them on time.
“Bradley called today?” Lolu informed.
“How far, any news on the Lisa girl?”
“Yes, but it’s no good news.” Lolu made for the door, his wife followed, she knew where he was going, the kitchen.
“Food?” Peju asked.
“I’m okay. I feel like having pancakes but I’ll make it later.”
“What did Bradley tell you?” Peju asked as he watched him open the double door grey colour fridge and brought out a pack of his favorite juice and fetched a clean glass cup.
“The request to move Lisa to another department was denied.”
“Devil is a bastard.”
“Real one my dear.”
“So what next now?” Peju was asking but her phone rang.
“It’s Imade.” She informed her husband and then picked the call. Imade sensed her sister’s mood.
“Bad time, hope all is well. Or should I call back later.” Imade asked her sister.
“No jare….we just have one issue at hand.”
“Family?”
“It’s Lolu’s friend, Bradley.
“Oh, his white friend.” Imade muttered, she had heard a lot about the man and his wife especially when her sister and family just relocated abroad, she had heard of how helpful the family were. And Imade also know that Lolu hardly keep friends. He had just one in the whole of Nigeria and that is Akin and now, he has Bradley in the US. And she had took after him as well. Sarah was her only friend all through her undergraduate days in school, Yomade was an icing on the cake back then though but after Sarah had chosen her path, the only friend she now has is Dammy and she is not looking for another.
“I trust you guys now. You will find a solution.” Imade said to her sister.
“I pray o.”
“It is well, just calling to check on you guys.”
“Ose aburo mi.” Peju thanked her in Yoruba.
“The triplets?”
“They’ve gone to bed.”
“Aww…. it’s not even bed time nau…”
“Really, come here and spend just three days and let’s see if you will still say that.” Peju said and her sister laughed. “Don’t worry, you will soon have that good problem as well, maybe yours will even be quadruplet.” Peju added and Imade laughed louder.
“Okay o….. regards to Uncle Lolu.”
“He’s here, talk to him, you need to see the way he is looking. I think he is worried about his friend’s home.”
“Are things that bad…?”
“See, talk to him.”Peju said and passed the phone to her husband. Lolu placed in on speaker.
“What’s up Imade?”
“I’m good o…. but I was told you are not in a good mood. Care to share?” Imade muttered and Lolu explained everything to her.
“Uncle Lolu, you need to be strong for them. If you get emotional about this, then you may not be able to help that family.”
“Imade, I don’t even know how I got here. Who would have thought that a day like this will come that I will be the one helping another family with infidelity issue?”
“Uncle Lolu, God turns our mess to message for others. I now understand that we pass through some things in life, so that we can also help and guide others.”
“Hmm…..you are right you know, because I was really surprised the day Bradley’s wife called me. I was like am I in the position to talk to another man who cheats on his wife!”
“Of course you are and that is why I try my best over here in Nigeria to reach out to younger ones, the earlier they know God the better.”
“True.”
“Concerning your friend, why don’t we all fast and have a prayer of agreement.”
“You want to join us in the fast?” Peju spoke up this time.
“Of course. If God had helped us, then we should stand up for the salvation of others.”
“God bless you my Pastor. Even though you didn’t tell us but I saw it on Facebook, one of the youth in your church tagged you in a post”
“I’m not a Pastor.”
“But you are youth Pastor in your church nau….”
“That is by assignment sister mi, not calling. They can choose another person next year.” Imade pointed out. Lolu was just smiling as the two sisters exchange words.
“Okay…okay…” Peju waved her off.
“So who picks the day of the fast?” Lolu asked Imade.
“Let’s allow the couple agree on that.”
“Okay then. So can I…..”
“Yes, just communicate the day picked to me.”
“Prayer focus?” Lolu asked her again.
“We want the girl….What’s her name?”
“Lisa.” Peju supplied.
“Okay, we want Lisa out of that company not just Bradley’s department.”
“You are right o because their path will still cross in the company.” Peju attested and Lolu nodded. Then Imade returned to what she was saying.
“So that will be our prayer focus, how God will do it is none of our business. God can even give the girl a better paying company that will make her have no choice but to leave. That is how I pray, I just tell God what I want, how He will do it, its up to Him.”
“Okay. I think we get you.” Lolu stated.
“Yes.” Peju added. The couple assured Imade they will get back to her once the day is fixed and with these they ended the call.
