Sadly, a huge percentage of Nigerians lack sense. Their brain is occupied with food, sex and money only.
How can somebody borrow billions of dollars to build a refinery and paid back 70% of the same money when the refinery is yet to produce a single drop of petrol ?

mrvitalis:

I told them this Dangote refinery was designed to fail

Who designs a refinery of 650,000bpd as a single train?
Even as a baby engineer I know it's messed up

He never planned to refine anything

It was all a foreign exchange scam... That was why the budget kept on increasing

Collect dollar from CBN at 450 ... Sale at 750 ... Pay CBN back 450 keep 300

Remember they said he has paid back 70% of the loan Lmaooo without producing a litre of petrol

So Dangote is an importer of fuel currently.

NNPC is now a private company, they can't issue license on behalf of the goverment.

Propaganda like that is good...it helps to put them back on track and to stop them from doing such if they ever have the intention

We really need to be very careful with the type of news we read and believe these days especially as some people are desperately searching for rotten manhood.

The NNPCL may not have given the license themselve but Dangote was actually given the license by those responsible for issuing license with the approval of the NNPCL

Two key things here. They didn’t deny dangote didn’t get a license. They simply denied having the power to give licenses. They are saving their necks .

The histrionics that surrounds small, non events in this country is amusing.

People go into meltdown over nothing.

The problem is that we have read that CBN borrowed 1 billion dollars from Chinese Exim bank and gave 750m out of it to Dangote at 445 per dollar. This money was reported to have been paid by CBN to his foreign account.

That is the problem

If he brings in product and sells at unregulated price... There is problem... His facility is not a depot so why him and not existing marketers

The NNPC boss is a Northerner and Tinubu can not sack him cos he does not want anything that would make him offend the North in any way. If the NNPC boss were to be an Igbo man I tell you for free either he is currently with DSS or Sacked already after some media trial. One Nigeria deh play

He wouldn’t need a license to import fuel if his refinery was really supposed to deliver refined products by the 2nd week of June now, would he? Quit playing the ostrich with big English, there’s nothing amusing about the hardship of the new fuel regime on micro & medium scale businesses across the nation!

The man behind the storm has remain mute.
He should come out plain and tell the public that his refinery is 100% complete and ready to refine voil and that he hasn't received any license to import pms then sue the publisher to court for defamation.

They didn't say it Dangote wasn't given license to import petrol... They only said it was not NNPC that gave the license it was the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA)

This topic and news is heavily misleading
cool
Re: We Didn’t Give Dangote License For Fuel Import ― NNPCL by Okorocubana(m): 11:04am On Jun 14, 2023
''The report is misleading. We don’t grant licenses or permits because we are not a regulatory organization. The responsibility lies with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), not NNPCL. You should check with them. NNPCL has just a small stake of 20 per cent in the refinery.” Which means the whole license stuff is true nah, who granted the license is none of my business. It's as simple as that.

You can't really say its fake news. Its possible the license was given but when I saw the news I was very sure that it could not have been nnpc because it does not fall within their responsibilities

There is no problem here at all.

Is there a law that says if you're building a refinery, and it is not ready, you are forbidden from importing fuel?

What do you mean his facility is not a depot? He probably has the largest tanks (depot) in Nigeria.

Believe me, if you're going to produce 650,000 litres of oil per day, you'll need to have several million litre tank facility on site.

If he has the tanks, and he's not likely to be producing at full capacity for several months yet, why can't he do business with the empty tanks in the mean time

Also, every marketer that has the money and meets the requirements can apply for a license. Giving Dangote a license doesn't stop anyone else.

Infact the more licenses are granted and therefore the more fuel is imported, the more stable or even lower the price of petrol will be.

So, it's a win for consumers.

Why o why are people overeacting to every irrelevant news.

opening of border is not good for a nation that doesn't produce. Border should be open when production gets to level of exportation.

Always blind to truth as usual, the same nnpc has agreed that license was issued but was not under their authority. But still you will write foolishly exhibiting your stupidity.
