NNPC Grants Dangote License To Import Fuel by ganisucks(f): 5:18pm On Jun 13, 2023
.Till December as NNPC terminates DSDP contracts

.Marketers explain why they can’t import fuel now

Barring all unforeseen circumstances, Dangote imported fuel will soon enter Nigerian market as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL ) has granted the Chairman of Dangote Group and President, Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, licence to begin the importation of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) or petrol into the country pending the completion of the 650,000 barrels per day plant at Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria.

ENERGY TIMES reliably gathered from top Presidency sources that the imported fuel would be discharged at Dangote barge and pumped into tanks and would sell at market dictated price to marketers while work progresses at the refinery.

The choice of Dangote to bring in the product was informed by NNPC’s 20% minority stake in the refinery.

NNPC is investing $2.76 billion deal in the plant which is paid in cash.

The second payment would be through crude sales, and the last payment would be through profits made by the company.

Another one third of the money, it was learnt, will be paid through supply of crude, with the deduction of a maximum of about $2 and some cents. And then the one third of it, which is another $850 to $900 million, will be paid from the profit they are going to make from the business.

“So it’s not a cash transaction where they are paying all cash. You can see that if we don’t have confidence in what we are doing, we will have asked them to pay all cash.”

The refinery was commissioned by the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, on May 22, 2023 with pomp and ceremonies. He was accompanied on the occasion by other West African countries’ presidents.

At the commissioning, Dangote said that the first refined petroleum products from the refinery would hit the market before the end of July or August 2023.

But checks revealed that the $19 billion refinery was at 88% completion stage with some equipment still being expected to be delivered by their manufacturers while those that have been fitted were yet to pass integrity test at the point of commissioning. Besides, work on production lines including electrical works are largely behind schedule, it was gathered.

With equipment still being expected and an integrity test yet to be conducted, I don’t see the refinery coming on stream until March 2024, the main reason why Dangote was granted a permit to import fuel pending the completion of work on the refinery,” the source said.

The pipeline infrastructure at the refinery is said to be the largest in the world, with 1,100 kilometres and will handle three billion standard cubic feet of gas per day.

Dangote had noted that beyond the commissioning ceremony, the first goal would be to ramp up production of the various products to ensure that within this year, the refinery could fully satisfy the nation’s demand for quality products.

“Your excellencies, distinguished guests, our first product will be in the market before the end of July or beginning of August this year,” Dangote had said, adding; “We have built a refinery with a capacity to process 650,000 barrels per day in a single train which is the largest in the world. We have selected the best plants, equipment and the latest technologies from across the world.”

Kikiki...😆😅🤣🤣

Nigerians enjoy getting scammed.

If Baba Lagos like he can pay all the small Frys money to pretend he is President, the powers that be will just be laughing. When the time comes, they will give him quit notice. If after six weeks he doesn't comply, they will give him the Gbagbo treatment.

So, we still won't be enjoying domestically refined fuel yet. Played again by APC

Anyway, we can't go back to subsidy, even if APC goes tomorrow. We can't be borrowing to fund some countries' kpayo addiction.

The pendulum we sit on
Any way it swings, our prayers and well wishes are that God will turns things for the good of the common man. Needless, to add that no man is common in Nigeria anymore. If you can eat well, move , house and educate your dependants you have shifted class.

You may not know but Dangote is just a name. A name that contains many other names.

By the way, I enjoyed seeing Ozarks. I really love the role Wendy Byrde and Marty Byrde played in the Ozarks. Incredible family.🙌

Which means a report that the Dangote Refinery needs more billions of Dollars of loans to be completed is true not propaganda..

If dangote can be given a license to import fuel, why build the refinery with borrowed loans. Why claim subsidy has been removed. What is this so called Subsidy then...

Everything is falling in place. That means Dangote has monopolized subsidy payment. The fraud Subsidy still exist only that Nigerians will pay Dangote the subsidy for the importation of fuel . The increment of the fuel price in order to recklessly maximize profits only goes to Dangote, allies & the government of emilokan per bullion vans. grin

There is nothing Tivnubu emilokans support that works. Poo' hari's maladministration comes to mind..

The truth is, Dangote is not the real owner of the refinary, the real owners are politicians who disguised in the name of Dangote. I doubt if Mr President is not a major owner.

Awon subsidy must go gang, Nigeria is a circus. I predicted this very thing a while back but some people called me wailer. You can't develop a nation by building STRONG MEN instead of strong institutions. PBAT's hasty deceptions notwithstanding, welcome to reality.

There was a thread on Nairaland where someone stated that, "the Dangote refinery has not been completed that Buhari went and commissioned the project just to take credit for it that a lot of work has to be done and the refinery won't come on stream till end of this year".

I was like, this guy must be mad. What does he again from telling us lies on Nairaland that the project had not been completed. Now, from this news, I believe that guy was telling the whole truth.

Honestly, why is the Nigerian govt renowned for telling lies to its citizens? So the refinery they told us would start operations by July this year is nothing but a notorious lie?🙆🙆

God of Moses, this is nothing but govt of criminality. How come they started commissioning uncompleted projects by those who should know better?

I was thinking why the refinery wont start operations immediately after it was commissioned, I never knew that propagandists and liars were the ones I had invested my time listening to.🎧

It shall never be well with any idiot in this govt whose plan is to lie to the citizens unashamedly henceforth.

Useless people.

Your head dey there. Subsidy removal started as an outburst who is highly overrated. But now, he's trying to pay small frys for permission licence to act as President. In truth, all governments do it. You must pay your sponsors for their investments. But in Baba lagos case, he's paying tributary to houseboys, mechanics, gardeners and butlers, because the master of the house has no time for him.

Na wa..

All the noise & celebration about the Refinery, knowing fully well that Dangote will be issued a license to import fuel is an insult on the sensibilities of sane Nigerians....

Tivnubu & Dangote is about to cashout without the online emilokans...making them fight dirty at different filling stations...What a life grin grin

Instead of the emilokans to think , they rather ignore sensible matters arising & focus on PO...whether PO Was invited to the opening ceremony of Dangote Refinery. They don't ask questions, they don't think about any thing except PO & Igbos.. See whare it has landed everyone.

Thesame way they started with the poo in hari..

They never learn because of hatred & ethno_religous consideration

Why is this not on the frontpage ?
