Many people especially those from the south of the country feel that girls and women from the north are been deprived and deprived of enjoying their childhood and youthful years by being married to elderly men while still in their teenage years. Well, that's not entirely true. These marriages to older elderly men are actually loved and craved by many of these young ladies and teenagers because most times these girls are from very poor families where three square meals is almost impossible , can't afford decent shelter, clothing, schooling and other activities of daily living. Also, most northern girls are usually virgins and only elderly men truly value virgins unlike all these forrk boys and young men who are only interested in corrupting young women and girs. And lastly is the issue of betrothal, many community elders and families still value and like to betroth young girls to families so as to strengthen bonds.
It is also instrumental to state that most Hausa folks believe that ladies above 25 are not virgins and may be marriageable or make good wives
In summary, the major reasons are, cultural or traditional reasons, poverty ,chastity and community pressures

Younger hausa girls r sold to the highest bidders. It's all about the Azikwe, Awolowo, ahlmadu bello and others.

The gals have no choice. They agree to the cultural bullshit and a mix of religious jargons attached to it

AFFECTS ONLY THE POOR.

Go kannywood. See many exposed babes unmarried at 25 - 30 Go ABU and BUK and see plenty young girls getting education.
