Court Affirms Ikechukwu Ukaegbu As Labour Party Gov Candidate In Imo State by tinsel: 9:12am On Jun 25, 2023

A federal high court in Bayelsa has affirmed Ikechukwu Ukaegbu as the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Imo state, for the forthcoming off-cycle election.

The election is slated to hold on November 11.

Delivering ruling on Friday, Emma Akko, the presiding judge, said Ukaegbu also known as Ikenga, is the rightful candidate having won the gubernatorial ticket in the primaries conducted by the Lamidi Apapa constituted electoral panel in the state on April 16.

Akko said the primaries conducted by the Julius Abure-led faction of the LP in Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi states were unlawful and and illegal.

He added that the primaries were conducted at the time Abure was restrained by a court from parading himself as the party national chairman.

The court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately upload names of candidates who emerged through “valid primaries” conducted in Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi states.

Nze Akujobi, Imo state chairman of the LP, hailed the court’s judgememt and described it as a true reflection of the will of the party.

He congratulated Ukaegbu and expressed confidence in his ability and the party to win the forthcoming guber election

Don't believe what you read until you see the CTC.

Is it possible for an aspirant to go to Court to challenge who didn't participate in the Primary?

The case was instituted by a Basil Maduka who participated in the NWC-backed Primary and scored 3 votes.

Ikechukwu Joseph Ukaegbu didn't participate in the Primary, he had his own faction organise something that made him 'win' unopposed.

So how can Basil now go to FHC Yenagoa to file a suit against Ukaegbu whose name is not even with INEC. It is the alleged winner whom INEC has published his/her name that should be challenged.

So INEC is not bound to act.

Don't stress yourself, either ebure faction or Apapa faction, the candidate credibility is most important. Party is just a platform, we've witnessed many governors go against their party leaders after they emerged. E.g Obaseki vs Oshiomole

Symptoms from a Nigeria 🇳🇬 where Selection has taken over Election.
In this part of Nigeria🇳🇬, even a common thing like a political party choosing its candidates for an election, had since been made an impossible task by a governor who has made his state, especially his native federal constituency, a war zone.

Arise O compatriots. The judiciary is Nigeria's number one enemy. Apapa was already expelled from the labour party how comes the judge is giving legitimacy to an illegality? Or are the judges already bought over by tinubu the drug mafia?
