Igbo's travel a lot, but sometimes it seem to me they ain't innovative enough, this 4×4 shops is outdated, they should be building shopping malls and plazas like the Igbo's here in Dei-Dei Abuja are building. That shop there cannot contain good's of more than 5m. The whole of that building is one person's showroom here in Dei-Dei.
Plazas in Onitsha

Oga I understand your point and concerns, but it's obvious you're not an Igbo man and you're not a business man, otherwise you would have known that one of those shops can contain goods worth 500 million to 1 billion depending on the goods the person is selling. I can tell you what to stock in any of those shops that can contain goods worth about 15 billion Naira.

If you go to even Cemetery Aba, you will see someone occupying a 2 by 4 mitre shop but in a day he makes sales not less than 3 to 5 million.

You're confusing outlets to plazas and malls.

Why can't you donate money and volunteer yourself to help your people in Lagos carry their loads instead of talking theory? Evenn though it is commendable to build new shops, but how many of the traders selling vegetables, onions and okpa can afford paying for this kind of shops. Shop owners at the last floor will hardly get patronage because people especially old ones don't like climbing stair case to patronize.

Government should have created more spaces that people can also occupy with mere tents. As government try to beautify state through a befitting modern markets, they should always have plan B for the down poor traders in the society who only brings from farms to market. They should have modern tents equivalent that poor traders can afford. Not everybody will understand what some poor among them are passing through as they find it difficult to get kinds of patronage they used to get before.

The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim has commissioned F.C Complex comprising over two hundred shops in Obosi market in Idemili north local government

I hope they realise it is not just about building shops, part of it is, do they have the market base to supply to. Lagos is such positioned that nearly all industries bosses are positioned (finance, oil, gas, production, etc). And these are the real market force that buys these product.

As good as this is but ….,.Ours is a buying and selling economy. We really need to be a producing nation like the Chinese started and export to the world. Come to Lagos and see how people build shops in font of their residential houses unscrupulously. We need visionary leaders that will make Nigerians start believing in themselves to make it happen.

Anambra should maximise its comparative advantage at all cost.

Many people don't know that whenever Lagos importers fail to import, their first source of supply is Onitsha and Aba.

For every importer in Lagos, there are 3 in Onitsha and Aba. That's why the government Agency said 60% of Nigeria importers are in Onitsha. It shows the strength of purchasing power in the State.

All these two by two shops when what you need is a free trade zone.

Build independent power plant next to it, 247 energy, police station nearby. Water plant, housing estate, then go invite manufacturers.

All these 4 by 4 is so 1760

Free Trade Zone is pretty much an area where foreigners lease local land to set up their factories ... free from the laws of the country .... and exploit cheap local labour. Is that what you're asking for? ... for foreigners to come and use us like slaves?

@ topic.... are these shops affordable to the ordinary "market people"? ... and is it in these shops people would he selling fish and bush meat and vegetables and fruits? I would like two see the toilets and after a year how well it was kept.

Aba has an independent power plant by Bath Nnaji. Free trade zone is good but usually by states that lack indigenous investors thus rely more on foreign investors. Anambra is blessed by an indigenous economy both in Manufacturing and trade and same applies to most Eastern states. Free trade zone can't be a priority to them.

If indigenes and citizens can drive same economy why should I give undue concessions to foreigners who will repatriate their profits abroad? Money made in the state circulate back to the state unlike foreign investors

Where will their patrons come from? The landscape is too narrow and constricted to contain them. The Igbo should learn to behave as Romans while in Rome and stop maligning their benevolent hosts. Nigeria belongs to us all, but the boasting and chest beating should be done away with. No one wants the Igbo to leave, but they should learn decorum.
