Heard Seun did not want to sell it for around $200,000 aprox N30 M to MIR the owners of dealfish. I guess he's regretting it now.
Re: What Happened To Nairalist? by DualCore1: 12:13pm On Oct 05, 2011
It doesn't look to me like an outright sell out. More like a partnership for 30mill. Lol someone called it internet macho stunt gone wrong.
Re: What Happened To Nairalist? by yawatide(f): 12:33pm On Oct 05, 2011
With 30m, I would not only sell, but use part of the money to invest in another venture that I could hopefully sell for another 30m in the future.

As we say in my language (loosely translated): God no dey give "bad" animal (like lion) horns.
Re: What Happened To Nairalist? by dhtml1(m): 1:06pm On Oct 05, 2011
Carrramba! Well, the dealfish people did made a difference. . .

Re: What Happened To Nairalist? by remoranger(m): 5:56pm On Oct 05, 2011
he prolly read the article "Mark Zuckerberg" the kid who turned down a billion dollars, the thing is his browser translated the article into an ancient indian language called sanskrit. Hence he did not get the memo of why he turned it down grin

Seun is a smart guy. I'm sure he would have sold it for N30m and opened 30 libraries.

The comments here reveal the offer was N2.5m for 60% of Nairaland (or Nairalist?):

http://techloy.com/2011/07/26/exclusive-mih-wanted-to-buy-nairalist-but-seun-osewa-said-no/

Sounds like slavery. They want Seun to work for them? Wont be surprised if they threw in clauses to facilitate the takeover of NL.

On a sidenote, how much are the top ten sites in Nigeria worth? Not those online valuations o!

Say, if Seun wanted to use NL as collateral, how much loan can he get? N30M sounds too much.

@yawatide: wetin lion wan take horn do? I no understand ya proverb.

Dealfish/Naspers has never ever offered me any money for Nairalist. Loy Okezie is just a chronic liar.

Seun, what happened to Nairalist? You don't tell us a statement is false and not give us something to fall back on.

Lawsuit! Oya seun, answer us o, we want to know the truth.

I have heard so many versions of reasons why and how nairalist died. . . .i wonder which one is correct. . .
Re: What Happened To Nairalist? by yamakuza: 12:25pm On Oct 09, 2011
Think he said somewhere that it was eating into his precious time. More reason i believe he'd have sold.

Said he finished his first web app after closing it.

My take: Why not consolidate and automate? There should be a Nairaplex by now.

Dont think FaceBook, Yahoo or Google got there this way.

Chiefo, what are the current challenges?
Re: What Happened To Nairalist? by dhtml1(m): 1:43pm On Oct 09, 2011
Eating into precious time - i heard that part too. . .

Seun, we all need you to talk on this issue.
Silence is not golden in this case.
Re: What Happened To Nairalist? by velo10: 5:18am On Oct 10, 2011
I think we should close this thread cos the only person to answer this question hasn't said anything about his site lately.
Re: What Happened To Nairalist? by moderatorr: 5:53am On Oct 10, 2011
90percent of internet businesses die within two years. Nairalist managed to survive a bit longer. But it was the 90 percent thing that happened to it.
Re: What Happened To Nairalist? by DualCore1: 6:13am On Oct 10, 2011
Let's be realistic with our statistics please.

Are we saying that nairalist is dead or dying? Caramba! Where is that boy seun?
Re: What Happened To Nairalist? by Seun(m): 7:54am On Oct 10, 2011
The initial decision to freeze was for a specific purpose, but the purpose didn't really materialize.
