Bros u no get sense go to united kingdom and learn what is called subsidy. The UK subsidize health insurance, technology, housing, education, electric vehicles and sustainable solutions by providing financial help through loans, grants and tax returns. Likewise United States and so many other countries.

Nigeria cant afford to subsidize anything due to mismanagement and weak implementation of policies. Stop allowing those guys up there to deceive you the country is in a very big mess. The only time this country will work is when tinubu gets his ass of Aso rock and go to the streets. That's why we want a vibrant and younger person to rule us.

You guys are so stupid cos the mass will only eat crumbs of tinubu's administration while the rich gets richer
and na 62 years Obi be the younger person abi... The reality u guys don't realize is that Atiku or tinubu of PDP or APC only one could have won... Obi and LP can't win not even in 2031... Again subsiding those traveling for study abroad is a no no... Any subsidy should be at the home front and for the poor average masses... Then the elites should pay more tax to cover for the haves not that's how it works in a capitalistic society.. this is why it requires a lot to Japa to places like Canada

The government is not subsidizing anything for foreign students. The essence of the black market abacha introduced was to give the central bank the leverage to make money off forex by selling dollar at high rate more of the reason why it's so difficult to get dollar or pounds from the bank. When people send money abroad the do it at black market rate. Who gave you guys this idea that government is subsidizing tuition fee for foreign students. A lot of u are so dumb in this country.

This is how Nigeria entered one chance for 8 years under Buhari. Because the people who were supposed to reprimand him were shielding him because he's their brother. Now see us today, another 8 years is about to go down the drain. A child that was born in 2015 when APC took over will be 16 when Tinubu leaves office, what will his future look like when bad policies must have hindered his parents from bringing him up properly? Countless lives wasted just so you can brag on the internet about your tribe being in power, when in reality you can't afford basic necessities due to nail-biting hardship brought upon you by that your so-called brother!

Mumu, read before typing. The exchange rate has increased and made it difficult for many students to afford school fees in dollars. Nobody is talking about subsidy. GTB is currently selling dollars at 800 naira. A dollar that was 480 at bank rate before Tinubu come to Power.
It was 480 because it was being subsidized by the government. The floating rate is the real market value. Now call yourself IDIOT angry

Since then, the naira has fallen from N471/dollar to N750/dollar and N589.4/pound to N957.2/pound.

Why are people complaining? What do you expect from a country that CONSUMES everything but PRODUCES absolutely NOTHING? You do NOT expect to have a thriving economy when all your basic necessities are imported!

Hope they didn't say, awa lokan and voted along that line before they left the country. Now I'm beginning to really learn of leadership.

Leadership is divinely orchestrated. You don't struggle for it else, you'd mess things up. Of all the leaders known in this country, only tinubu grabbed power by hook and crook. Even when Buhari was so desperate, he never got it until he willingly surrendered and left the space.

From 1960 to date, none who ruled Nigeria got to power desperately and the history has shown and I'd start from the most recent cos of some indomie generation here.
Buhari was called to lead Nigeria after the successful coup in which he never participated.
Babangida, same. It was obj who said those who participated in the coup should consider IBB for the position. This is a fact not known to many, till now.

Chief Earnest Shonekan never dreamt of becoming an interim president.

Abahca too never knew it could be his turn. Those who persuaded shonekan to step down in line with their agreement was led by Gen Diya, not even abacha cos he wasn't in good terms with IBB.

Abdulsalaam Abubakar never thought of being head of state. There were senior officers before him who could have filled that space but he was picked and his promotion was doubled, as a prerequisite to being head of state before he became Nigerian leader.

Obj was picked from the prison, he had thought he'd be executed by abacha when IBB boys did the needful and he was released . The rest was history.

What of Jonathan?

...and Yaradua?

None of those mentioned above bought their ways into power. When you force yourself in a position where God didn't put you, you should experience things like this. Only God appoints leaders, irrespective of religion or ethnicity.

If tinubu scales the hurdle of the judiciary eventually, he'd manage to lead Nigeria for 4 years but people should brace up for the unexpected. This isn't a curse. We're all seeing the realities. A Pounds sterling don pas 1,000 naira now.

You are funny.
Please reason correctly.
You go and school abroad with the plan of relocating some even relocate completely.
Yet you are applying for PTA and form A in Nigeria.
Government will subsidize school fees in government schools in Nigeria and still subsidize school fees for those schooling outside, subsidize PTA for you to travel abroad and shop, subside trips for religious trips for both Christians and Muslims
All tthis against USD with a spread of like 300naira per dollar.
Haba
Come on!!
Should such fund not be used instead to develop our education sector..
Of course under a government with correct head

Does it make sense
other oil rich countries are doing that. Subsidy is the right of every citizen of Nigeria.

Foreign Education is a luxury, we can't be subsidising luxury. If we are deficient in some profession and people need to be trained abroad for that then Government can pay for that.

You don't understand his point enough.

We have to tell ourselves the truth sometimes. Government floating the currency and letting the market force determine the rate is not a bad decision.

Let's look at it this way.

Majority of these people outside of Nigeria don't have the plan of coming back after their study, yet they are the major consumer of the forex. Why should the government be pumping out forex to defend the Naira when it is majorly being exhausted by the Nigerians in diaspora that are not willing to come back home even after using the country's resources to fund their education abroad, benefiting the host country?

Now, many people will develop some patriotic trait by investing their money in Nigeria.

Its worse now cos the dollar and pounds are higher. Buh we can't export much overseas. How can you depend on Forex and tax to build the economy. We are just hanging on cos any mistake that shit will go up so fast. Importers are already adding money to there goods due to higher tax and exchange rate. You are as a citizen will suffer more. Tinubu will suck the little air left in you until the economy stabilise ie if it will.

Subsidy wahala, now everything is gone up, and everyone is now informed of the effect of subsidy removal. That fuel money goes to the root and affects everything in Nigeria..now where would they spend the subsidy savings, Please 🙏 If there is one thing I must remember Emefiele for is what he did to reduce the rate for students going abroad and his team did well for many years to students going to school because of his policy someone could use form A at a good price settle both school fees and accommodation fee. Now everyone can see the reality, the country is now becoming like Ghana. God help us with your mercy. We are not ripe for this subsidy removal, no plans in place to help people, how would they handle the poor masses, some companies already complaining. Fuel has increased operating costs, and pressure to increase salary, profit is not increasing, even Dangote self dey cry. My own is where would they spend the subsidy savings that will balance things With the same set of leaders? It's a pity. Someone said this subsidy removal could lead to a recession like Venezuela. But I reject that statement in Jesus' name.
