Those who were telling Nigerians how Tinubu is the smartest person alive to be President can now see that even the semi literate Buhari was far better than Tinubu.
When we warned Nigerians against voting Tinubu (just like we warned against voting Buhari), they called us 'IPOB'.

Exactly. The City Boy was obviously a village boy compared to Obi when it comes to understanding the dynamism of economic variables.
You don't devalue your currency and leave it to float on the dictates of forces of demand and supply when you are importing, prices of imported goods like petrol will continue to skyrocket at alarming rate. No Volume of dollar you inject Into Nigerian economy will saturate it. People thinking that fuel price will end at #617 per liter should wake up. Recent changes in exchange rate to dollar will manifest in upward price changes soon.

angry
where is the dollar to buy self?

the floating of the Naira is a great threat to the existence of the poor in Nigeria.
you float naira and remove subsidy at sam time.... jesus

without black market you won't able to source fx at a given time..

its like going to access a service in a government hospital with long queue to see the specialist which might take anytime from 2months.

are u willing to go to bank to wait 2 to 3 months to get Dollars? or you walk to the close by black market and get it today today as time is money
.

black market will exist as long as there is scarcity of dollars in the bank.

same way private hospital will thrive once you can't access same service in government hospitals on time

U don't understand what I am saying. Tinibu said he has floated the naira and unified the exchange in the first 1 week of his regime.

Why are we still having two separate exchange rates?

He dragged the official rate from about 400 to equal the then black market rate of about 750 so that there is no more black market rate.

So what is happening today?

See, provided there is still arbitrage between the official market rate and black market rate, someone is taking advantage of Us.

If I can buy from banks at say 750, I will want to quickly sell to black market at 840. Even with a 90 naira arbitrage, I will gain 90 million naira if I sell one million dollars today.

I don't know why CBN is behaving funny like they don't know our political leaders can use this or are even using this gap to their personal selfish gain.

The solution to this is to allow everyone buy and sell dollars at the bank. If we have access to dollars at the official bank rate, no body will go to black market selling at a higher price. This will force the black market rate to come down very close to the official rate.

If we have any arbitrage between the two markets, the highest gap should be 5 naira..... My take

It is a bad combo. Nobody does that. There's a saying that "if you want to eat an elephant you have to start from somewhere". Combining the subsidy and naira float is like swallowing the whole elephant which of course will choke.
