Same Sapele Road Oshomole and Obaseki worked on. Let's be honest, the possibility of flooding during and after rainfall in Benin City is high, and it doesn't start today. From Ugbowo to Agbo Road, Uselu to Aduwawa, Tv Road to Textile Mill Road, Ekehuan Road to Okhoro. And these roads are in good shapes, by Nigeria's standards. We experienced same thing during Oshiomole and I don't think the next governor can do anything about it.

What I won't permit is someone living in the dirty waters of Ogbomosho or Udi to malign my hardworking governor because we rejected APC at the polls in 2020. Yes, Edo no be Lagos, the slum headquarters of West Africa. .

Which hardworking governor.

Oshiomole is different from Obaseki, show me one road constructed by Obaseki in benin, I'm not saying patched road because all he does is patching road bit by bit after one week the road is bad, all good roads in benin today was done by Oshiomole, check Uwelu Road, Textile road by Ogida, Uselu Road by Tumb line, Auchi Road by Aduwawa, Close to bypass, RCC Road sapele road all these roads are zero during rainfall.

All the roads done by Oshiomole has deteriorated so bad. Obaskei has done nothing other than empowering agbero I'm Benin City.

Yes, but we expect him to do better than oshiomole, but right now, no.much big news coming from Edo state, he came in as a 'rebel', we expected a revolutionary change. Edo state government is collecting a lot of funds from FG, as one of the main crude deposit areas in Nigeria, we need to see people empowerment, building of manufacturing units. Edo state has world class artisans, all those our collected bronze works, put them in a first class museum, develop the city's infrastructure, create a local effective security unit, to boost tourist's confidence. Edo state is sitting on a crafts/artwork, tourism goldmine. Benin moats, the ancient bronze works that are thousands of years old, Benin city wall... tourists wants to come see this thing.
Edo state Ministry of tourism can reach out, we can advice and help on this.

Lucky should be the worst ever.

Between obaseki and oshimole:
Oshiomole did more important p ojects than obaseki. However fewer.

Obaseki has done far more quantity of roads than oshiomole, but those roads are not as MAJOR as the ones Oshiomole did. Never
sentiments will lead you no where, it is impossible to compare obaseki to lucky igbinedion, lucky igbinedion is light years ahead of obaseki.
Sometimes I wonder if you guys are normal.
Obaseki is not just the worse governor in edo history but the worse in the history of Nigerian politics.
Where in your existence have you seen a governor campaigning with a renovated stadium and renovated state secretariat?
Since you were born have you ever seen a governor campaigning with a pedestrian bridge?
Comparing obaseki to chief lucky igbinedion is a big Insult to lucky igbinedion.
Obaseki ruined edo education system from tertiary to primary to the extent communities now employ teachers by themselves, students now take chairs to schools by themselves an example is uhunmora secondary school, army day secondary school in Benin city.
You said obaseki has done more quality of roads, you are a liar, what quality of road when the only few kilometers of road he did got washed away within few weeks, example is the ohovbe road he did at agbor Park.
A man that ruled a state for over one year without a single commissioner? Have you heard that in Nigeria before?
He has handed the state specialist hospital to his friend from delta state and poor edolites can't even access that hospital anymore.
He shut down tertiary Institutions for years in the name of renovation, shut down new buildings built by his predecessor at new Era girls school for just no effing reason.
This useless man has taken edo back to the 1990s Era again.
This same flooding issues would have been addressed if he had continued the oshiomhoke water storm project but he has refused to continue the project.
Upon all his borrowings nothing to show.
If you claim his better than lucky, list his projects he has started and completed in seven years and I will list lucky igbinedion projects let's compare them.

Why Edo govt can't fix Benin-Auchi, Benin-Sapele, other roads, by Obaseki

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said the state government cannot intervene in fixing the Benin-Auchi and Benin-Sapele Roads because the Federal Government has already awarded contracts for the repair of the roads.

Obaseki disclosed this to journalists after the monthly Security Council meeting held in Government House, Benin City, the state capital.

The governor said that much as Edo State is a transportation hub, it is concerning that the major Federal Road network in the state, which connects several parts of the Country are in bad condition.

He noted that his administration has done everything in its power to appeal to the Federal Government to look into the repairs of the wide span of damaged Federal Roads in Edo State.

Obaseki added that his administration has drawn the attention of the Federal Government to the failed portions of Benin-Auchi Roads, Benin-Sapele Road and the Benin-Lagos Road, particularly the Ovia River Bridge but nothing has been done yet.

According to him, "Look at the incident that happened in Ovia River Bridge three weeks ago, in which we lost several lives following multiple accidents. Nothing has been done till now. This shows they don't care about us in the State.

"The issue on the Benin-Lagos Road, particularly the Ovia River Crossing is becoming catastrophic. We have lost a lot of lives and done everything to get the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Works to work with us and put in place a palliative measure to stop the carnage on that road."

On Sapele Road, he said: "I was on Sapele Road recently. After the heavy downpour, the road was impassable. What is going on in Benin-Sapele road is a scandalous. I don't think that any region where the oil resources that sustain the Country come from should be this neglected. We have done everything possible. We don't know what to do again to draw the attention of the federal government to these roads."

He continued: "The Auchi-Ibillo Road was so bad that some of our contractors couldn't go to their quarry site. We appealed to the Federal Government to do palliative work on that road but they refused, saying the road is under contract. If I want to do the same to Benin-Sapele Road, I am not allowed to do so. They claim the road has been given out to a contractor.

Last year, the Benin-Auchi Road was locked for about two weeks as food, animals, petroleum products could not reach their destination. We don't want such situations this year so they should help us. We are not here to criticize them but to appeal for help."

The governor noted that the federal government’s policy relating to these roads is very confusing, noting that in the past, states could rehabilitate Federal roads and give the Federal Government the bills, but that is no longer obtainable.

"At a point they said we can apply and take over the repair of federal roads but I am yet to see a state they have given Federal roads to fix," he noted.

This is a pathetic excuse. Flooding is not due to the presence or absence of a road so fixing the roads will not necessarily stop the flooding. After all roads get flooded and washed away eventually. The problem is the lack of stormwater infrastructure in major cites. That is not a Federal task. What does it take the State to find the closest river to that area and channel the flood.

You can imagine the kind of government that we have. They are more interested in awarding contracts to cronies through corrupt and criminal process than actually carrying out basic infrastructural repairs. Contracts for those roads can be awarded and re-awarded over and over again without the knowledge of the public, lining the pockets of heartless "career" politicians and their criminal contractor lobbyists. Of course, cost of government's capital expenditure would always be very high because of these wastages.
