FG not Data Protection Bureau has fined Soko loans N50m for data breach. 2: they found some banks in breach of data dem don pay the penalties imposed quietly. 3: they are investigating MoMo, flutterwave & others. 4: Nigeria has the capacity to monitor Meta & Goggle activities in Nigeria. 5: Nigeria must train 490,000 people to be data processors. We have only 10,000 in the country. FG will license data Protection Compliance Organization under PPP to train data processors. More jobs in IT sector.

The National Commissioner for the Nigeria Data Protection Bureau, Dr Vincent Olatunji, speaks about the new Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, protecting the data rights of Nigerians, regulating AI

In the banking sector, we have fined about three banks, and Soko Loans in the digital lending sector. We fined Soko Loans N50m, and they are still sorting out how to pay through compliance. There are other banks that we have fined, but the approach we have been using is for them to pay remediation. If we go all the way, that is the full weight of the law, the fines would be a lot.

What we do now is to make them pay a remediation fee and take them through regulation and compliance. We are trying to improve compliance culture. To encourage companies to make it part of their practices, to make it part of their culture, we take them through compliance. Regarding some of the investigations, they are ongoing, and it takes time.

When did a random Twitter handle become a credible source for news? It's the mods who always push your threads with Twitter source to FP, I blame sha.

U no de see Punch newspaper online link there.
It was after I made that comment that he or a mod added it.

Seems F.G is in support of all these loan defaulters though the defamation of these loan apps can be demeaning but why do people always borrow but won't pay up till the moment they defame them.
One thing I have learnt about Nigerians is that we hardly pay back loans.

Shatap

Even if you default for loan there is a reason you submitted bvn init?

They can go to your bank invite you and know how to pay.

These sharks copy your contacts and send blackmail messages to all

It's okay

Their approach in getting back loan is crazy.

I get text messages and calls on behalf of people I don't even know.

We crossed paths and exchange numbers doesn't mean I know them.

So dumb

There is something wrong with some of the forum actions.
A user will post unverified news on Nairaland and it will be ignored.
If the same user add a twitter source to the "news", the mod quickly
pushes it to frontpage as if Twitter is a news organization.
Is it not the same Twitter where anyone can register under any name
and post whatever they want?

Good!

If you defaulted for a month, I would have blame you... But these azzhole can assassinate your character for defaulting just one day.

It's foolery to give someone loan and expect them to payback with ridiculous 40-60% interest in 7 days... You think if they have the means to get such money in a week time they'll take loan?

Loan sharks are criminals in search of quick money.

Ban everything loan sharks so that they and their defaulters will rest. You can give one 10k to pay 18k in 6days not even one week as they claim just because the borrower needs the money by all means. As for defaulters try de pay your loan, e get why
