No airline wants that kind of reputational damage.
Look what what happened to TWA.

Passengers travelling out of Abuja to Europe and North America should expect increase in Cost of Ticket as well as increase in travel time .

Lets hope Mali ,Burkina faso and Gambia does not enforce no fly zone .it will be catastrophe for Airlines and their passengers travelling out of Nigeria .

No Airline in the world will fly over active conflict zone or when Countries declares no flight zone .

Example of Malaysian airline MH 17 shot done over ukraine and subsequent bankruptcy of Malaysian airline made all the airlines of the world to avoid global hot spots .

Airlines have totally avoided Afghanistan, Syria and Yemen for many years .

This is Nigerien own kind of sanctions to countries that sanctioned them especially ECOWAS.

Russia is not involved.

Wagner has since been cut off from the Kremlin

Wagner is now on team USA.

How you guys can not see the hand of the US in all this when the US has over 5 covet bases in Niger shows how most of you guys don't really know what's going on .

Always talking rubbish. So US is on the side of the Junta or the disposed President.?

Nigeria and wars should not be in the same sentence, especially wars that have international dimensions.

One coordinated attack on our major oil installations can cripple Nigeria for a very very long time.

I mean, ghosts have been drinking our crude unperturbed, for years;

Even more amazing, people came in bikes with unsophisticated weapons and broke terrorists out of Kuje Prison.

A whole medium-security prison!

No military grade drones gave early warnings, neither was the hours-long attack rebuffed.

Many of the food sellers, farmers, artisans, maiguards and even military officers in Nigeria, hail from Niger.

What do you think would happen if Nigeria takes US/France/NATO's war to Niger, their homeland?

For starters, loyalties within the military would be divided; infiltrations and counter betrayals;

Secondly, Boko Haram activities would intensify.

Right now, Nigeria is too corrupt, too unserious, too complex, too porous and too divided to prosecute any war that doesn't primarily target the Igbos. 🙄

But if Ebola insists, let him start by sending those dingbats attacking Gbadebo's constructive tweet, as well as those officers that shot and killed many unarmed EndSARS youths at the Lekki Toll Gate. They should go and pick on people their own sizes.

That affects Nigeria seriously.
Retaliation is the name. Very dangerous for passenger aircrafts to fly through.
Next, do not forget that the gas pipeline passes through Niger.
How BAT manages to take hasty decisions beats one’s imagination .
It's ECOWAS decision collectively. Not just BAT's decision.

Dialogue don't work with military juntas, the only language they understand is war. Dialogue from now till 10 years time, it will not produce any result. Gowon tried dialogue with Ojukwu, it never yielded any result. Tinubu has already sent envoy which were not even granted access but attended to at the airport. Dialogue don't work with military coup. If there is no show of force, there is no way Niger Military junta is backing down, that's the bitter truth.

Then leave them alone! It's their country. No intervention in internal affairs of countries...remember?

Otherwise bulaba should be sent packing by foreigners

The only reason commercial flights will avoid the airspace because no insurance company will cover them if they route through Niger airspace.

not because of possible fatality case since they have spare battery to recharge in the eventual case of death.

Google Wolfowitz Doctrine and you will understand what Washington is up to.

The US needs to create another WW2 scenario on a global scale to keep the rest of the world embroiled in conflict and turmoil so as to remain the top dog .

The US only emerged as a Super Power after WW2 following the destruction of Europe .

With BRICS challenging the status quo, the US wants a hard reset and to achieve that they are setting up wars of attrition across the globe using proxies.

The US still feels invisible owing to its natural separation from the rest of the world by two oceans.

Since 1945, the US has maintained a foreign policy of meddling. See it as a Tower of Babel moment where when any nation strives above a set industrial, economic or military status, the US steps in to weaken or destroy it.

As I said , get a hold of the Wolfowitz Doctrine and see how Washington's belligerency and endless wars are tied to them maintaining global supremacy.

Last I checked the airspace is closed to flights below FL270.

Can Niger even police their airspace ?

Do they have total radar coverage or the resources to enforce a total airspace lockdown?

They've only two rusty SU-25s and zero SAMs.

The junta is a joke.
For fear of loss of life, no airline will risk flying at Niger's airspace until it is resolved.

Blah blah blah...I don't support military intervention in Niger, but I support Tinubu's victory in the last election. I know those who supported Atiku and Obi in the last election who are hyping Nigeria's military prowess and saying nothing will happen if ECOWAS invade Niamey. What do you have to say to this?

You think everybody will always follow your childish line of reasoning?

It is for these reasons President Tinubu and his ECOWAS group of Heads of government must take it very EASY EASY with the military junta in Niger republic.

Nigerians tolerated the IBB military government for 8 years and Abacha for 5 years.

The Late General Sani Abacha would have ruled Nigeria like the late Ghadaffi of Libya or Mobutu of Congo if not for his sudden death.

But Nigerians people did not use ECOWAS to force IBB or ABACHA to quit power.

The Late Chief MKO Abiola who was the acclaimed winner of the 12th June, 1993 Presidential election was not restored to power by ECOWAS.

Where was ECOWAS when the Late General Sani Abacha incarcerated the late Chief MKO Abiola?

Why can 't they allow the military junta in Niger republic to remain in power till the country is calm for a transition from military rule to civilian democratic government.

The forceful placement of Bazoum in Niger republic will result in more crisis.

Nigeria government the arrow head in ECOWAS will have to station troops in Niger republic after removing the military junta and feeding the soldiers in order to maintain stability in Nigeria.

It is not just removing the military junta, installing President Bazoum and returning our military personnel back home.

WILL KEEPING SOLDIERS IN NIGER REPUBLIC NOT RUN DOWN THE LITTLE MONEY NIGERIA HAS AT THE MOMENT?

Do the Nigerian government have the kind of money they ones had during the time of ECOMOG to fund overseas peace keeping operations?

Certainly NO !

Nigerien people themselves can assassinate Bazoum if force is used to restore him to power.

If I were the Bazoum I would hope to go to a more private life.
