What I can't understand is why Nigeria that is still suffering from epileptic power supply is supplying light to other countries. Still thinking about this because I can't comprehend it.

Sanctions are meant to push citizens against their leaders. In matter of weeks watch how Nigeriens go against the coup leaders when their economy start going down.

O"Really?

Iran, North Korea, Syria, Serbia, Montenegro, Tunisia and many other African countries, Cuba, Latin American countries, China are laughing. Heavy sanctions have been imposed against these and many other countries from various sources; from the US, from the EU, from the UN..
But Russia laughs the loudest, of course. Most of the sanctions were imposed on it. 14 022 sanctions. Americans also really expected that the Russians were about to rebel against the evil Putin because of this.

The Russians have a saying "щаз, только шнурки поглажу" Means "Yes, I'll just finish scratching my balls/picking my nose, and I'll do it"
No way. When pigs (begin to) fly

If the people support the government, sanctions will not force them to take to the streets. On the contrary, the people rally around their leaders and steadfastly endure hardships and eventually achieve their own.

Do not take an example from the logic of Western stupid whites.
This is the logic of white colonialists who are used to using slaves on the plantation - beat a stubborn slave to a pulp with a whip and he will love you, master.

If there were smart people in ECOWAS and in the Nigerian government, they would impose targeted sanctions against specific individuals. And maybe they would have asked the UN, the US, the EU and even Russia to join them. So that the leaders' hands were tied and so that the leaders could not use the results of the coup for themselves.

And to arrange a humanitarian catastrophe and think that after that the common people will love democracy and their neighbors who do this to them..

ROFL.

Nigeria will become an enemy for the people of Niger.

When Russia annexed Crimea without firing a shot, the Ukrainian government began to impose sanctions against Crimea.
The North Crimean Fresh Water Channel was blocked (water blockade), electricity from Ukraine stopped being supplied to Crimea, a food and transport blockade (cargo transportation) was declared, financial sanctions were imposed: Ukraine stopped paying pensions to residents of Crimea, servicing bank accounts, and so on.

And at the same time, Ukraine declared that it loves the people of Crimea very much, that Crimea is Ukrainian territory, that Crimea should return to compliance with the laws.

The same thing happened in the Donbas.

For Crimea and Donbass, the Ukrainian sanctions had a completely opposite effect. Even those who voted against the entry of Crimea into Russia hated Ukraine to death.

And now it will become clear what the deposed president of Niger really is.

If he is the true leader of his country and thinks about his people, he will find a way to appeal to ECOWAS and other countries not to impose sanctions that hit ordinary citizens of Niger.

And if he doesn't say anything, then in Niger they did the right thing by kicking him out. So, this is really a stupid puppet of cruel colonialists. And the sign "democratically elected" means nothing.

if it gets really unbearable, there could be a revolt by the same ordinary people. The military leaders will also suffer credibility issues in the eyes of the populace.

Did the military guys send this petition or is it not the same politicians who have been benefitting from the BS going on in Niger for years.

Less than a week into the sanctions, and they are already crying. No wonder the Brainless Coupist General quickly rushed to welcome Emir Sanusi grin

Wait till African Union also impose their own sanctions by the end of this week when their ultimatum expires. A country that 40% of its budget is financed by ECOWAS, AU and the West is doing shakara. Just last year Buhari dashed these Niger soldiers military vehicles and built a rail system for them.

Ps: IPOB members and Obidients will be bitter at this new development. They never want anything good for Nigeria.

Oga Park well these guys are only speaking for themselves the people that event this petition are actually the same politicians that benefitted from the BS going on for year in Niger.
Did the military leadership tell you that they need anything from Niger. They expelled the Nigerian ambassador to Niger didn't they?

They are still playing. Let them go and see what happened to all those who stood in the way of Nigeria in DSS rehabilitation camp.

Niger needs Nigeria. They can NEVER do without Nigeria. That coup Leader knows there is nowhere to go than to do the wish of Nigeria.

The moment you see the same people who supported Mr Peter Obi , Mr Nnamdi Kanu etc supporting the coupists, I knew the coupists are jinxed with bad luck of not getting their wish. Nobody or nothing they support ever ends well. Check my signature for free stuffs!

Dude stop all this comments that have no bearing on the topic. In the first place who are the petitioners? The same political class in Niger who have been puppets of the west. Did any of the masses come to beg Tinubu? Or did any of the military men beg Tinubu? Look these sanctions will only serve to toughen these guys. They have the west by the jugular, you see that pipeline to Europe the west needs it more than Niger, so by the time winter reach they will reach a compromise with the coup leaders.

It’s about time.

Those sanctions are crippling and the Military Junta are already softening up, especially after the meeting with Emir Sanusi on the way forward.

A transition process should be mutually agreed upon with a firm timeline. Even the fiercest of wars are resolved on the round table, so it’s wiser to avoid the avoidable.

#DiplomacyFirst

Oha they met Sanusi because of historical links and Sanusi is a leader of a Muslim group. He didn't go as a Tinubu envoy. Shebi Sultan go and he was not allowed. Dude stop this propaganda games.

Cuba was sanctioned for years under Castro and it only served to toughen the people and tighten their resolve. See when there is revolution, and it is supported by the people sanctions don't cripple them it toughen then because now it is seen as a struggle for survival which they must undertake to be free. And Tinubu seen romancing France even makes the situation even more tenable to them that they are struggling for survival.

Nigeria has an agreement with Niger to supply them electricity in exchange for Niger not damming the Niger river.
If Niger dams the river Niger for electricity and irrigation purposes, we will be the ones needing to buy light from them, besides our farming will be affected.
Nigeria, sanctioning Niger with electricity despite the agreement has shown we are not reliable. In this case, it will not be out of place Niger makes it a policy to dam the Niger river once they attain stability.

That is a consequence of thuggish policies. Take drastic decisions then think later.

stop saying nonsense. Nigeria electricity is powered by 80% Gas and 20% dam. Which resources did niger have to build a dam?
The one world bank have been building for them for years have they completed it yet?
Now that world bank ,america, france ,e.t.c have suspended funding how will niger surivive.

Asaba is booming and you can still find land of 550k in a state Capital. Even in my town that's not even local government headquarter, land is sold at over this price. I except Asaba land to be far higher than this price.

Compare Cuba to poorest of poor nation making you silly.

Russia and Iran have been heavily sanctioned yet they are still resilience because of strong buffers they had, comparing it with fragile Niger that struggling to survive even without single sanction maked u go mad with level of ur prejudice.

I advise you read how the sanctions are creeping them now. If u reason with common sense, you would know that , JUNTA agreed to meet Emir Sanusi having rejected various delegations up to UN delegation, becs he is now clear to him that he can't survive sanctions going forward.
