FreedomfromtheT:
Nigeria's president Bola Tinubu is the current ECOWAS chairman.
Nigeria is s major player in ECOWAS.
ECOWAS authority of heads of state and government wants to use force ie go to war against the Nigerien junta.
President Tinubu asked for approval from the Nigerian Senate.
The Nigerian Senate says no.
The Muslim northern neighbours of Niger Republic keep chorusing no.
Tinubu has legitimacy issue and desperately wants to please the US and France perhaps to gain international acceptance.
On the other hand, Tinubu can't afford to displease the Muslim North - not at this auspicious time.
There may be rerun in the presidential election.
Even if the court ruling or rerun favours Tinubu, he will still need the North for his likely second term bid.
Tinubu thus finds himself in a very difficult situation akin to being between the devil and the deep blue sea.
Should Tinubu then resign as ECOWAS chairman and leave the rest of the ECOWAS members who are interested to go to war against Niger without Nigeria being involved?
E don do na, Ibo people una too dey overdo things haba, must y'all open thread all the time?

Hmmmmmmmmm!
But I learnt that the same Ouattara is opposed to the military take over in Niger Republic.

That's not true

He is strongly in support of Military intervention by ECOWAS

You still don't get it
He sent Gen Abdulsalami and Sultan of Sokoto to talk to them. These are prominent people in the North whose territory extend to Niger republic. They didn't even give them audience.
Mention people they will listen to if they can't even give audience to this two
This act is international best practices in conflicts resolution. Moreover decision to use military is not President Tinubu singular decision to make.
Are you then insinuating that Gen Abdusalam Abubakar and the Sultan of Sokoto are in support of using Nigerian soldiers and weapons to fight the coupists in Niger Republic thereby killing Nigerien citizens?
Which other people does president Tinubu need their support to send military to Niger Republic since the Nigerian Senate and prominent northern Muslims have said an emphatic NO to the use of Nigerian soldiers to fight Niger Republic?

African Union is supporting ECOWAS..
The chairman of The African Union will have to resign too.
I am not aware that Comoros whose president is the AU chairman shares border with Niger Republic.
I am not aware that Comoros shares common history, family ties, farmlands, cultural and religious ties with Niger Republic.
I am not also aware that the upper parliament of the Union of Comoros voted against the use of their military to fight Niger Republic junta.
It is either president Tinubu resigns as ECOWAS chairman or he remains a figurehead ECOWAS chairman in the use of military by the subregion on Nigerien coupists.
President Tinubu can't use Nigerian military when the Senate especially those from the Muslim North have said a big No to the use of Nigerian military in Niger Republic except Tinubu wants his days as president to be numbered.

Should we then allow coup d'etats in (West) Africa to continue unchecked?
What happens in other country is non of our business. Nobody makes us the overseers of democracy. We have enough going on in our country that we are yet to contend with. Leave global policing to wealthy nations whom have excesses for wars. Nigeria should mind its business & channel our scarce resources to fighting our own mounting internal security problems, poverty, & lawlessness. Put your home in order before going out to save the neighbours
