Speculating, blowing things out of proportion, and deliberately withholding accuracy in vital info is the specialty of Nigerian newspapers. So, they can't find out the numbers of those who are against and those in favor. Right? They just like to cause panic among citizens. In the end, it is going to be an easy ride to deploy soldiers to Niger. Or am I wrong?

Instability from coup can affect 'economic' in west Africa, so the two are not mutually exclusive.
has it affected anything yet?
what has democracy brought to west africa aside corruption and stealing from public officials

they should focus more on the economy and leave internal politics alone.

It has affected so much especially for a country tthat depends on 40% of his economy on foreign aids.

Democracy is still better than millitocracy where people become zombies, have no rights and have guns at the back of their heads all the time. Only losers want military govt.

Niger has now been left alone by ecowas and president Tinubu and I hope the rest of you can leave everyone alone too.

Is that why African presidents keep supporting each other to rig elections and extend tenure?
Why didn't they invade other African countries that had coup recently?

This is pure hypocrisy and until African leaders come clean, coup will continue.

To the presidents serve your people, stop being corrupt and stop enacting anti people policies just to please the west

That's a lie! Nigeria did not experience any positive let alone good experience under military rule.

Democracy is why you are able to say what up want even though they are lies. And to not feel like you are at war all the time is another. The past military rule was when Nigeria was rich, if military comes now when Nigeria is broke you will be soakings sand instead of gari.

is it not the same civilian that used democracy to turn nigeria to the poverty headquarters of the world?

90% of the infrastructure in Lagos today was done by military. from all the bridges linking island to mainland, to all the major bridges in lagos, to tin can port, to airport, to roads, to national theatre and many more too long to list.

even Abuja, na them start the project.

the best gov ever to rule my state EDO till date was a military gov, Ogbemudia, and likewise many other states.

what has democracy brought to Nigeria for the past 23yrs?

The United States of America is using Tinubu's dark past records to cajole him into sending troops into Niger.

And when that happens, things will escalate and blow out of proportion.

That way, our resources like crude and that of Niger's Uranium will be bought at a give away price, in return they will supply ammunition.

I am not a supporter of Tinubu or APC, but he should tread carefully...

The soldier will not win because of the corruption the politicians have purge their country. Take a look at Nigeria today, do you think any political party will win the presidency if not APC? Last election in Nigeria should tell you the level of corruption these Africa countries have gone. After election, the INEC officials will select their choice. So only the violent taketh it by force

The removal of the subsidy has removed one of the largest sources of corruption and patronage ever. His unification of the exchange rates (though, partially botched by the acting CBN governor) does the same as well.

He wasn't the president that made Nigeria the poverty capital of the world. It was Buhari. It would take time for the regression under Buhari to be addressed but he is on to a good start by ending those 2 subsidies.

Guinea, burkinafaso and Mali will be fighting alongside Niger in this war. That makes four countries. Ghana, Liberia and Cape Verde are neutral and won't be joining the war. That makes seven ECOWAS countries. Only Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Togo, Chad and Senegal are pushing actively for this war.

I don't understand why Tinubu is carrying this Niger junta matter on his head like firewood.

Niger isn't the first west African country to experience a coup in the last 5 years and would certainly not be the last.

The reality here is that Nigeria doesn't have the resources to sustain a war.

War is expensive. Hitler lost WW2 cos he invaded the Solvet Union and as his war with the Solvet Union prolonged, he couldn't afford to feed and supply his over 3m German soldiers fighting on the Eastern from. Most German soldiers in starlingard starved to death. Many ran out of ammunition and surrendered cos they could not be supplied.

If Tinubu sends 10,000 soldiers to Niger. He shouldn know that feeding 10,000 soldiers for just 1 month, replenishing exhausted ammunition, artillery, tanks, fuel for the armoured divisions, magazines, and you'll still pay their salaries, medications...etc. You'll agree with me that the expenses would run into billions of naira.

If the war escalates to like 6-8 months, Nigeria wouldn't be able to sustain itself cos it would have exhausted all it's finances on the war.

And the west who are urging him to go on wouldn't support him with a penny. So we would finish our resources on a war that isn't our business, loose thousands of service men, become dead broke...and for what, to please the west?

Somebody should talk sense inside that man's head.

That is your President except you don't have one. to also educate you. more, he is the ecowas chairman. address him properly. are you from lawless afga eastern?

Some old age is actually an asset, some supported Tinubu out of greed and some out of his antecedents in Lagos State to be President, they thought he will still be an asset, they thought he will be an old wine that tastes better but this wine is sour.
Despite everyone including Generals, Clergies like the Emirs, Sultan, Christian Leaders, Analysts, Experts, past Heads of State's advice against use of force, he is adamant.
It's a good thing ECOWAS members are divide and not confused as Tinubu and do not believe using force is a solution.

I swear to God, other African countries are closely watching at this... if nothing serious that will put fear on others is not done about this Niger situation, expect more than 10 coups in Africa within the next 5 years.

For those calling for coups in Nigeria, may their lives never be better with them. With our current situations, we can't handle any sanction that will limit our japa syndrome and lock us up in Nigeria to suffocate. Taaaah! God forbid bad thing...
