Great.... Sometimes in July I contacted a nairaland certified AC specialist concerning the fixing of my Toyota SUV's air-conditioning system. I was able to locate his shop close to ladipo parts market.... He was courteous in receiving me and welcomed me warmly. Guessed my trip wasn't a waste... Then began the hours of waiting to get him to check the air-conditioning system for the faults therein.... I noticed that he was particularly distracted by phone calls most of the time... Like working two minutes and receiving 10 minutes phone calls. Myself and a lexus car owner who had paid for his vehicle to be fixed since morning before I came (mind you I got there around noon) was also wondering. He claimed to have paid all monies necessary to fix the car but the man was moving about receiving calls without any attention paid to his car. Although the Lexus owner claimed he's heard reports of him being a good AC technician. Then finally after about two hours of waiting he came to inspect my car.... He brought his equipments for testing..... ....to be continued |

Yes back to the nairaland certified AC specialist.... He conducted his deep inspection of my AC system and declared the compressor kaput... That the clutch was leaking.... and must be replaced |

searchng4love: So I asked if he could complete the work in a day that is between 9 AM and 5pm.... Well he wasn't forthcoming as he kind of preferred the vehicle is left overnight with him.... So we couldn't agree and moreso he insisted that my engine radiator fan must be restored from permanent to factory settings.... Mind you that is not the AC fan... Or else he wouldn't touch the car with a thousand foot pole... So I must get the fan clutch and fix... Please bear with me I really want to be specific about the accounts hence my seeming delay... |

Fast forward, just to be sure I contacted few nairalanders and a particular name kept popping up.... But I protested that we know so-so person by reputation on nairaland for years .... They all insisted on a particular name in fact one said that this man fixed his AC five years ago and it's been Eskimo chilling standard since....ditto another friend on nairaland who insisted that I go straight to the man in question o. And forget the nairaland reputed technician. Armed with these living testimonials I decided to jettison the nairaland certified AC specialist for the confirmed physical specialist. So I popped in to Lagos.... |

On arrival at the recommended AC specialist.... I met cars like the GL450, ML350 4matics, highlanders, and other assortment of heavy vehicles...it matched the description of what I was told to expect.... Bentleys and gwagen..all entrusted to him. It was a bit difficult locating the place... KamoCool |

On inspection of my car's AC system.... He discovered a leaking front evaporator... Bad dryer and condenser... But my compressor was in excellent condition unlike the nairaland certified AC specialist who condemned the compressor and certified all other components as fit... |

In total the AC was fixed perfectly chilling for less than a hundred thousand naira.... within three hours..... unlike the nairaland certified AC specialist who quoted above 200k for the same job and still missed the the essential leakages and damaged components..... My advice always seek out those who have the testimonies from clients and not the grandstanding on nairaland cartalk section..... mechanics, AC specialists and so on and so forth.qualified technicians don't really have time for online grandstanding .... KamoCool and his boys at work.
