Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, says the current administration will not rely on propaganda to propagate government programmes and policies. Idris spoke on Thursday at the opening ceremony of the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), in Abuja.

He said the Tinubu administration will strive to restore people’s confidence and trust in the government by implementing tangible and credible policies.

“You are aware that the focus of government now is how to restore the confidence of the governed, in government and its institutions,” Idris said. This time around, a process of restoring popular confidence and trust in government and its policies shall not lie in the domain of propaganda.

“Through a tangible and credible policy of the government, the government aims to directly impact the lives of our people. In other words, the era of relying on propaganda to propagate government programmes is now over.” He said the Bola Tinubu administration will be committed to providing credible information to Nigerians at all times.

“Transparency is the currency that builds credibility. While authenticity is the foundation upon which lasting relationships can be built,” he added.

“Let me assure my colleagues, the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, shall be anchored on transparent and accountable information dissemination to Nigerians.

“Which of course includes boldly and humbly, acknowledging mistakes where such are made.

“This, in my opinion, is very important in reducing apathy and engendering trust between government and its citizens.

“We will engender a new approach based on truth, mutual respect, and empathy, which is needed to reopen conversation between government and the people.”

Idris, who is an NIPR fellow, noted that the event was not only for celebrating members’ dedication to public relations but also to embark on “a journey of reflection, of inspiration, and of collaboration”.

“In this age of information saturation, where every click and stroll adds to the noise, the role of public relations has never been more vital,” Idris said.

“We are the storytellers, the bridge builders and the custodians of reputation, our work shapes, perceptions, guides decisions, fosters relationships, and extends far beyond the boardroom.

“As guardians of reputation, therefore, we must learn very fast to navigate uncharted waters, with ethical responsibility and a commitment to truth. Ethics indeed lie at the heart of our profession. In an era where trust can be shattered with a single misleading tweet, our integrity must remain unshakable.”

Yimu! Nobody asked him but he is already confessing as if there is a gun to his head. A government that was built on lies, deceit, propaganda, corruption and criminality can't do otherwise.

This is how chronic irredeemable pathological liars give themselves away. They don't even know when they have to tell so many lies in order to cover one lie.
Illegitimacy does not give legitimacy. You can legalise legality with illegality.

".....Lai Mohammed’s notoriety as a compulsive & inveterate liar is already secure & unchallengeable, Lai Mohammed’s entire career as Minister of Information and Culture has been defined by a bewilderingly extravagant fondness for willful and easily falsifiable lies.

His first name doesn’t just share an uncanny phonemickinship with “lie”; he actually embodies lies in the mostaudaciously disreputable way imaginable...

"...In other words, the era of relying on propaganda to propagate government programmes is now over...." Still affirming APC have been lying to Nigerians from inception. You have to be grossly stupid, daft and incredibly clueless to defend this hopeless government.

The other day he said the era of telling lies to defend government is over.

Today he’s saying same thing that they will always be sincere with Nigerians.

All these points to one thing - that everyone, including APC members, knew that Lai Mohammed was a stupid and irresponsible liar.

But unfortunately Agbado people always defended all of his lies and swore they were truths.

I don’t know what they will say now that another Information Minister has called Lai Mohammed a liar twice in less than one week.

I love how these minsters are going about their work. They are bringing hope to common man on daily basis. Allowing masses to know the program of the government will bring hope to the hopeless and make them know they are part of the government. Nigeria shall surely be better.

Mohammed Idris is an outsider. He will be re-orientated on how to project this government because this government headed by Tinubu thrives on lies, falsehood and propaganda.

He should know by now that Tinubu owns and funds the Lagos-Ibadan expressway propaganda news machinery used in spreading lies, falsehood and propaganda.

APC and transparency cannot be put together in one sentence.

Propaganda has always been the only weapon.

Just yesterday we were told that unemployment rate has dropped astronomically, with no new industries built or did they revamp any moribund industry.

Now this is one thing I doubt. As long as there are people on forums like Nairaland paid to influence how we think, they are not serious yet.

As long as reputable media houses backed by some people at the center keep selling headlines instead of contents we are not ready.

One of the most stupid things you can do in this world is to believe the government naively. It's worse when that govt pay people to create tribal and religious conflicts. I think APC is the devil.

In every government, there is propaganda but when a government purposely creates disunity by elevating deep tribal and cultural sentiments, you know they have gone to the next level. These guys have belong to some devilish cult or in a mental asylum.

Forget it- there'll be propaganda! You will disseminate rumours, half-truths, or lies—to influence public opinion, every government does that and you saying this government won't do it is a big propaganda! Naturally, they put you in that position because they believe you can lie convincingly; but ya all should lie with conscience.
