Police have confirmed the death of a 16-year-old girl, Priscilla Galadima, who was crushed to death by a tanker in Minna, Niger State.

The spokesperson for the state command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, on Thursday, disclosed this while speaking to the newsmen, News Agency of Nigeria reports.

Abiodun noted that the deceased, a resident of Barkin-Sale in Minna, was trying to cross the road by Shiroro roundabout when she met her unfortunate death.

He said, “At about 10 am on Wednesday, a Mercedes Benz vehicle with Reg. No. SUL 140 AJ driven by one Daniel Joshua, aged 35 years of Morris Minna, was coming from Mandela road heading to Shiroro roundabout.

“But somewhere along the way, he drove recklessly and scratched a Toyota Yaris vehicle with Reg.No. RJA 375 AA driven by one Abubakar Yahaya of Okada Road.

“The Mercedes vehicle reportedly refused to stop while the Toyota vehicle pursued the Benz for it to stop.

"The Benz in the process, hit a pedestrian, Priscilla Galadima, aged 16 years of Barkin-Sale, who was trying to cross the road by Shiroro roundabout.

“The lady was hit to the opposite lane and an oncoming tanker trailer with Reg.No JMT 576 YR driven by one Ibrahim Lawal of Jembutu Yola, ran over the deceased.”

However, the deceased was taken to General Hospital Minna, where she was confirmed dead, while the drivers were arrested and taken to Tudum Wada police division for further investigation.

The corpse has been deposited at the Minna General Hospital’s morgue, Minna.

If standards are to be adhered to, 95% of haulage trucks won’t be on the roads. Less than 5% are roadworthy.

And with same mistake being made overtime, same results will always play out.

Please the tanker driver should be allowed to do giveaway with the petrol in his tank and then set free because the main culprit here is the Toyota Yaris driver.

How can someone with such an inadequate car go on a vindictive racing spree over a mere scratch on a two-cylindered scrap and of all places in the world to try the stunts and maneuvers in Fast and Furious, he chose Shiroro roundabout that is almost as busy as Onitsha main market.

It's clear you didn't read the story. Or if you did, you didn't comprehend it.

Reckless Mercedes benz driver running from responsibility hit road-crossing girl into front of tanker going its peaceful way in opposite traffic.

Tanker naturally could do little to avoid crushing girl considering how suddenly she was thrown into its way.

Not the Tanker driver's fault.

This is what a simple stop, park and apologize to the driver or even paying for the repair of the scratch car would have have solved. Instead they compounded it and innocent girl paid the price. Sometimes, being patient and humble saves lots of trouble, now the driver would wish he has not chased the other guy that scratched his car

RIP to the girl, may God strengthen her parents in faith and comfort them in this time of unbearable and irreplaceable lose, amin

......And the annoying thing is that the Road safety Marshalls that are supposed to checkmate these trucks are no where to be seen on the federal highways. They are busy in the inner interstate and local council roads issuing tickets to sound private cars. The dysfunctionality of the country is second to none. Every body is doing as he or she wants.....no accountability
