It's a pity when i see a bloody civilian talk rubbish about the armed forces. First of all, you don't know the level of a Major General in the army talkless of being a COAS. You don't even know the criteria and corps which COAS is being picked from.
The current COAS is a well trained special force officer with many years battle experience in the north east. Go and check what he did in the North before being appointed as COAS. The insurgency is bigger than what most of you kids on NL do not know! You think being a Lieutenant General is a joke?? Too many kids on NL

Don't know for his peers, but my point is that lagbaja and his peers didn't experince much combat during their prime, unlike the young Combatant officers of today

We know COAS appoint is a political one but all the past service chiefs were best of the best before being selected. Engineers and signal are teeth arms of NA! Which past service chiefs were best of the best? Come off it dude! The president can appoint any very senior officer of his choice as Service Chief. For instance, the late Lt.Gen ibrahim attahiru that boko haram gave a knock out in maiduguri, that buratai had to transfer him within Six months cus of his incompetency ended up as COAS

However, many non regulars have been Service chiefs in the past, most recently , the former CAS, Air marshal Sadique abubakkar

I still stand on my point that the past service chiefs were best of the best example like General Olonishakin(Ex boy) was the best during his mate in the academy even back then in NMS.

Late Lt.Gen Attahiru has was a brilliant officer from day one and he failed in the NE for many reasons which both of us might not even know.
Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar had his training in the academy and most of his other courses and additional training were with regulars. Air Marshal Sadique was too exceptional unless you want to be bais. Please, kindly tell me which other past service chiefs were not regulars?
