President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of the new Governing Board and Management team of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) for a renewable term of four years. The most striking appointment was that of the Chairman of the FERMA Board, Engr. Imam Ibrahim Kashim Imam, a remarkable 25-year-old first-class Mechanical Engineering graduate from Brighton University.

Born on the 27th of December, 1998, Engr. Imam had shown promise from a young age. He had pursued his undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at Brighton University, where he distinguished himself and graduated with first-class honors. His academic prowess continued as he pursued an MSc with honors at the same prestigious institution. Having completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in August 2022, he was now ready to step into a significant leadership role.

Kashim Ibrahim-Imam was born 8 May 1962, he is a Nigerian politician who was twice the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Governor of Borno State in 2003 and 2007, losing both times to the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) candidate Ali Modu Sheriff.

Ibrahim-Imam was born into a political family. That's exactly what am stressing here..we the masses don't have that hope of deciding our future it's always the elites recycling their grip on power but it's unfortunate that the very people whose lifes are in jeopardy will still kill to defend this one's just for crumbs.

This is not about complaints. A mechanical engineer has no business chairing FERMA, which should be the sole prerogative of a civil engineer. Whether he's a youth or a ceremonial head counts for shit. As the chairman, he is supposed to be the voice of authority in that agency and his inputs have to stem from academic knowledge or the technical know-how.

I am 90 percent certain this appointment is a gift of gratitude to someone and not because Tinubu found merit in the young man. Do you know the litany of overly experienced and qualified Civil Engineers we have in Nigeria duly certified by COREN?!
