Overloading normally shouldn't make a transformer go boooooom! There are so many components that can just get damaged and short the transformer down due to overload, not a boooom!

Here in my area, people are selling goods around our transformer..one woman is even frying puff puff..another selling agbo jedi jedi, vulcanizer etc. We have advised them severally of the dangers but they are adamant. We even reported them to electricity company but the officials said it is not in their power to drive them away.

The day accident will happen, they will blame it on devil.

Nigeria needs to invest in protective devices to protect the most important assets which is the transformers. I hope this is not a 33kv or above transformers as the replacement will be expensive. This is more likely to be overload or three phase earth fault.

It's the responsibility of the government and the category 1 responders, who have the primary role to respond to emergencies, which includes the emergency Management board, local authorities, the police force, fire service etc. To identify the potential risk, assessment the risks and immediately work to produce an emergency plans to either prevent or mitigation the impact of any incident or catastrophic emergencies.

Did someone pack C4 explosives into the transformer or what? First the report stated fire and then electrocution.

Transformers only throw sparks in the air not explosions like bombs...and how did people get trapped in their houses, they could not evacuate before being burned alive. I'm lost.
