Am I supposed to believe these students, sourced for and fabricated the robot parts and programmed it to perform certain task in a govt school with teachers who got in through connection, poorly paid, poor teaching. when dem learn coding? Make una talk another lie jare. My guess is, the principal is knowledgeable, got some parts and good hands to assemble that stuff then gather students to claim it, something wey some of the students fit no know wetin be AI.

We celebrate mediocrity in this country.

This robot coming from a secondary school...well it fair, at least it is a starting point to build innovative mindset, because some university graduate of electrical doesnt even know what a stepper motor or servo motor is and cannot even write a single line of code.

On the other hand...we can do better than this by trying to do what has not been done before. I see people saying that the government should support some random boy that just build a toy car... comeon... technology is much more than that.

The government can try to build a technical school, research center and tech factory to aid anyone that wants to develop real idea and innovation that will be patented and exported to other countries.

Secondary school girls of the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Sagamu, Ogun State, have unveiled an AI robot called ‘Okikiola-Sagamu’, also known as Kiki-Saggy.

The project, which involved 10 students and a few staff members, was unveiled to the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, David Adejo, in Abuja.

The students, drawn from both the senior and junior classes, said the AI robot project took about seven months, adding that Kiki-Saggy can talk, walk and even gesticulate.

They also attributed their success to the training from their teachers, especially the school principal, Dr Muyibat Olodo, who also doubled as the head of the robotics team, and Coderina org, a capacity-building organisation that leverages robotics and other emerging technologies to empower young learners and teachers across Africa.

At the unveiling, Olodo emphasised how technology is aiding innovation and paving the way for a brighter future. She added that the futuristic fields are empowering students to unleash their creativity, problem-solving skills, and technological prowess.

The robot isn't even walking.

It's actually rolling.

The difference between a walking 6ft robot and a rolling 6ft one is a few million dollars.

No sign of any AI in the robot.
