Okay, I agree that bamboo have an unusual tensile strength. But how well can one vouch for the lifespan or longevity of the bamboo. Iron Rod as we know it can remain existing inside a concrete for well over 70 years. Can a bamboo stand the test of time inside a solidified concrete?

This isn't new, even though the tensile strength of bamboos cannot be compared to that of iron steels and are prone to insects attack and melting on contact with water in the long run. Bamboos have good tensile strengths but can’t compare or replace iron rods and by iron rods, we are not just talking of steel rods. We are talking about building rods or rebars/ reinforcement bars. These have high flexural strength and can maintain integrity for many years unlike bamboos that gets brittle or vulnerable to termites when they gain access to the concrete.

The wood you were talking about is treated wood that cannot decay. In the olden days, our forefathers used to use just wood instead of concrete. Using bamboo and concrete is out of it because the weight of the concrete will be too much for the bamboo.

You are right that the Americans used wood to deck their houses, but not concrete on top of wood.
