My take on it is that this is absolutely against the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We are yet to get to state policing. However, an investigation needs to be carried out by the IGP and persons found should be culpable and face the full wrath of law. This is abnormal. Totally against international best practice of policing.

This is no longer a potent argument on this platform as far as this issue goes. Majority of discussants long agreed that the Daura failure mishandled the 2015 circumstances which precipitated today's ugliness.

Where majority of voices have equally achieved consonance is how the struggle has been abused to the point where violence, discomfort and discontent has unwittingly be metted on the very region of the agitators by the very hands of the self-styled leaders of the movement.

That's the part of the struggle most of the Nigerian audience has dissociated with and equally the part you missed in the discourse.

Do u remember what the current chief of army staff said about reinterpreted boko haram. Who said hardened criminals repent? Even if they do, how can they carry guns, not well paid and will not carryout their old self? I am sorry, the north is a Big problem to Nigeria. Refuse to go to school (in number). Refuse immunisation thereby increasing polio and others, encourage hearders/farmers trouble, defending constitution that puts other region in bundage, takes greater chunk of the country's allocation and still the poorest. Having mentality of God men who are the richest that shoulders the rest. Nigeria will always be dragged backwards this way

This is bad, criminals should be prosecuted and not awarded. Same criminals turned officers would be given weapons and they could use those weapons and their privileges to carry out more deadly attacks without being detected. They are now insiders to their former criminals. Whoever commits a crime should be punished according to the law. This whole saga is terrible, young men in Kano would say to themselves, so if I carry guns to terrorise communities, government will reward me at the end.
