Newborn27:Thank you, I'll take the advice. The truth is that the guy is greedy, he doesn't know what we pass through here. It's damn cold here, cos Connecticut is a damn cold state, we are at 6 degrees, we fit enter 2 degrees tomorrow... You can imagine how cold it is. I will work under the cold, and one nigga will detect to me how much to give to him. It's crazy. Anyway, I will continue to help folks with the least I can while prioritizing my family. 4 Likes |

uche87: To a very large extent you're correct. But they're some people in your life you just can't ignore, no matter what e.g parents and some few dearly friends. They understand and they don't pest on you for cash, but you also have to show concern for them too. That's just the fact. 1 Like |

Mummyimbecile: It is all shades of wrong to dictate the amount of money you'd send him....if money is that easy to make he should get a visa and try going or stop procreation. I received several mentions on my previous comments on 1st page which I can't reply all. The people turning begging to a profession are the ones who made it difficult for genuinely needy persons to receive help. Just do your best and ignore the greedy and self centered ones. An adage says *oun ti aye ba so e da...oun ni won ma fi bu e bodola* *It's same people that contributes to one's setback in life that first castigate us when we're down* 2 Likes |

ednut1: Ohh now you can suddenly dig out google search But when i ask you to mention one famous person that got poor before he/she did give away you were shifting goal post. Sometimes people refraining from spending there networth on sickness becos under such circumstance getting help is more feasible, if Mr ibu spends all he has on sickness after recovery what will he fall back to, Even at some point 50cent declared bankruptcy to escape some billing so be mindful what you fall for, The bob risky you posted was it not from net you picked it, Oga you are ignorant about so many things |

Newborn27: No, it doesn't take humility to beg. It takes shamelessness, greed, and the intent to swindle to beg. Most begging is not genuine, and you may notice that the person you've been giving money to ten years ago may still be beginning you ten years later. I still have people who begged me for money twenty years ago, still begins today. I just stopped responding to one two months ago. Is that humility or shamelessness? 11 Likes 2 Shares |

pansophist: Partly true. Occasionally, asking for help isn't about shame or humility, it could simply be a request from a place of lack. But perpetual begging is a thing of shamelessness - This is true 1 Like |

HRtechnique:True, and I am not referring to such instances. I am referring to the people I refer to as stones. Give them everything they ask for, and they will come back broke as before, and strategize ways to build an office on top of your head. You are a cheerful giver abi? thats nice. To them, you are a cheerful maga. 9 Likes 1 Share |

Celebs or rich people go broke when there income stops flowing, all those nonsense boyz of lekki spend there money on cars, olosho, and club, no solid investment anywhere, Why dem no go broke 4 Likes |

Tjra: Cost of doing things are expensive in Nigeria now and are even becoming as expensive as abroad. Most Nigerians are now cutting ties totally with Nigeria as opposed to those who were willing to invest in the country. The communal way of life in Nigeria is dying so people hardly cater for extended family unlike before. But true sha, the West is also experiencing inflation and depleting economy too. 4 Likes |

wman: You have a good finger on the pulse of Nigerian life. I don't talk anyhow, I only talk and give my strong opinions on what I know for sure. Nigerians are generally wicked and ungrateful people. One of the surest ways to earn the eternal enmity of a Nigerian is to help them. The only way to protect yourself when helping a Nigerian is to extend the help and cut off all ties, run for your life. Because they will come after you to take the rest of what you have or to prove to you that they didn't need your help in the first place and that your help was an insult. Read this little bit from the article I've linked below: Then he referred to the recent coup in the West African country Sierra Leone. "The boys who took power in Sierra Leone come from houses like this." The Minister jabbed his finger at a corrugated metal shack teeming with children. "In three months these boys confiscated all the official Mercedes, Volvos, and BMWs and willfully wrecked them on the road." The Minister mentioned one of the coup's leaders, Solomon Anthony Joseph Musa, who shot the people who had paid for his schooling, "in order to erase the humiliation and mitigate the power his middle-class sponsors held over him." You will notice this with a lot of Nigerians, always claiming you insulted them. This is a result of mass poverty and desperation brought on by socialist orientation of the populace, where the only possession they have left is PRIDE. So Nigerians abroad are learning fast. One of the most noticeable changes in the character of recent migrants is immediate immersion into activities that show they're digging in for permanent stay. When I was new to the USA there was CONSTANT DISCUSSION among my cohort about when we would be going home. Ten years? After getting PhD? Why buy a house in America when you can save the money and buy in Nigeria? We generally wanted to marry a spouse from Nigeria. Today there's no such orientation among new immigrants. You can smell it. These people were the ones doing the "billing" from Nigeria....I learned that word today LOL. They know the format and are DETERMINED not to be a mugu. As many of them have told me, dem no send anybody. I believe in about one more generation...that's 25 years in demographic data...remittances to Nigeria will be less than 10% of what it is today UNLESS Nigeria institutes at least the basics of a free market capitalist economy. People forget there was a mass return to Nigeria in the 1970's by people who had no residence permits or citizenship. Nigerians forget everything, they forget their country actually had fuel subsidy, they forget they had a religion before Europeans came to them, they forget who made Nigeria a Unitary State, they forget and forget even what they forgot. Most of those 1970's returnees were impoverished. Those of us who left Nigeria in the late 80's and early 90's learned the lesson, we returned to Nigeria but made sure we had foreign citizenship. It still didn't work out for most of us, at least those I know. So the next generation, the people migrating since say 2012 to 2015 and later, 99% of them will NOT return to Nigeria at all. They won't give a crap about extended family because as I've written repeatedly on this forum, the EVIDENCE is that the famed extended family system in Nigeria is rapidly crumbling under the weight of a protracted economic recession. Look at this link from Atlantic Magazine. This article formed the basis of a book that won wide acclaim in scholarly circles. Written in 1994. I read it the same week it was published and recoiled in shock and wounded pride. LINK https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/1994/02/the-coming-anarchy/304670/ FULL ARTICLE PDF https://cdn.theatlantic.com/media/archives/1994/02/273-2/132677298.pdf Most of it has come to pass and is unfolding right now as we watch. I know where Nigeria is headed and the last thing I will do is waste time and effort on a lost cause. I really and truly wish the best for Nigeria, but there's nothing as futile as an idea ahead of its time. Good Luck to Nigerians. 5 Likes 1 Share |

First, I will not be in that kind of situation. Such scenerio is different from normal. If a so-called "mother'' can go to that extent to bring another woman's son/daughter down, cut communication and run away from them. Pray and focus on yourself. Maybe later in life, you can have a rethink. MyAmericandream: |

StepM is also a "mother". Some folks abroad don't have bad family "stories". Some are so useless that they intentionally ignore their siblings. MyAmericandream: 1 Like |

MyAmericandream: Not only in Nigeria, you can't be wealthy without being dubious or play dirty, or do some crooked things, ask any wealthy man u know be it Nigeria or abroad. There's a difference btw being rich and being wealthy. There is a reason to say someone is filthily or stinkingly rich. ..... Some filthy and undercover deals involved. |

franchasofficia:It seems you don't understand the point here? How many people can you help at the same time? You can never play the role of the alpha and Omega .The moment you try that, you will crash. Even the Bible says the poor can never seize in the land. I have been turning down some people this days for my own personal growth. And to the glory of God,I have records of those God I had helped. Only God is all sufficiency,we can't play his role. |
