The Senate on Wednesday threatened to recommend the sack and possible jailing of the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, and heads of government agencies in the oil sector over the Turnaround Maintenance on which N12 trillion has been spent without tangible results.

The upper chamber specifically threatened to sack heads of agencies directly involved in the Turnaround Maintenance (TAM) projects of Nigerian refineries.

It also revealed that it has records of over $592 million, €4.8 million and £3.4 million spent between 2010 to date on the TAM, yet none of the refineries has refined a drop of oil.

The Senate Ad-hoc Committee investigating the various Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) projects of Nigerian Refineries, issued the threat during an interactive session with NNPCL management and other executives of the oil sector.

Some of the agencies invited whose chief executive officers failed to show up, but sent representatives, include: Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and their subsidiaries.

The Chairman of the Ad-hoc committee, Senator Isa Jibrin (Kogi East), noted that so much has been heard on the turnaround, and so much has been spent on operational materials on the refineries without results.

He said, “We will ask for refund and dismissal of all the chief executives involved in the Turn Around Maintenance.”

Senator Jibrin said that for weeks, they have been asking for documents, which have not been given by the oil companies, a development that created suspicions.

Jibrin said, “We sent them an invitation more than two weeks ago requesting for documents and the documents have not been released after two weeks. So, we want the chief executives to be present.

“More worrisome is that between 2010 and 2020, the sum of N4.8 trillion was said to have been spent as operational expenses. How do you incur operational expenses that have to do with purchase of raw materials and similar expenses on factories that are moribund? How do we come about operational expenses? We need to know

When someone opened a thread yesterday asking which government agency is the most corrupt institution in Nigeria, some very ignorant people were referring to the police and the Judiciary.
I said it yesterday that it was a straight fight between NNPCL and CBN,and not up to 24 hours I have been proved Right.
Trillions of Nigeria spent on those scrap metals called refineries aka conduit financial drain pipes, and not even one liter of petroleum, kerosene, diesel or even aviation fuel to show for all the gigantic investment.
Every 4 years is always a period to carry out Turn-around maintenance on those scrap metals, the Minister makes money while the fuel import cabal continues their parasitic business.
I repeat, that's why I supported Jagaban,he must crush the fuel import cabal that has its headquarters in NNPCL,from the gateman to the GMD, everyone must be totally uprooted and new set of fresh blood brought into that agency.
For those Nigerians who have left the antelope in the bush which is NNPCL and gone after the cockroaches which is the police and the Judiciary,I daresay you are being hoodwinked by these politicians so we never focus our attention on the real problems of Nigeria.
My only prayer for Asiwaju as this year comes to an end,is for him to make sure crude oil flows to Dangote Refinery, even if it means breaking agreement with our foreign creditors.
The day a barrel of crude oil is refined in Dangote Refinery, the chokehold of the gluttons in NNPCL will be broken.

NNPC, CBN and Custom are corrupt body but can't be investigated. That was why trillions disappeared through them.

What a shame

12 trillion, more than the country’s annual budget apparently stolen and Nigerians are just going about like goats !

In a normal country, there would be a national outrage, they would shut down everything. Nothing will move until those who stole the money vomit it!

How much is ASUU even requesting for, wasn't it less than 2 trillion naira?

Yet they haven't given them the funds, increased school fees but can use 12 trillion for fake maintenance.

God will punish all these people

Turnaround maintenance remains a hidden scam, shrouded in silence. The funds poured into this seemingly senseless process could have birthed an entirely new refinery. It's disheartening that while Ivory Coast and several French-speaking African nations may have their currency printed in Chamalières by the Bank of France, and Nigeria exports its crude oil to countries like the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, and the United Kingdom, our nation seems far from achieving true independence.

I think we should apologize to the British for leaving us so early and not having a strong hold on us like the way the white SA did on the blacks.

Because clearly Blacks are incapable of governing themselves.

The only reason Tinubu has refused
to point a searchlight on NNPC is that
he has been part & parcel of the Oil Subsidy
scams since the coming of APC..

If You touch Kyari, na Tinubu you touch.

And so long as NNPC is not investigated,
all our efforts at economic returns is a
big waste of time.

NNPC has become a personal company
of some Nigerians, who keep harvesting
the proceeds, while Nigerians pay the
cost of maintaining the company. The very
high prices we are paying for Petroleum
products is part of our individual contribution
to maintainance.😐😐😐😐😐

A classical monkey🐒 dey work baboon🦍

Question begging for answer. Trillions of naira to resuscitate the 3 refineries but nothing to show for it.

The government is patiently waiting for deadline given for the refineries to start working but if otherwise they are going to jail.

Even the height of corruption within the so called ASUU is alarming. Nigeria is a scam.
VC in Nigeria public universities has about 4 official cars, and VC in South African Universities drive their personal cars.

Forget it, Nigeria is a scam. The day ASUU begins to talk about dividing the country, then I'll take them serious because that's the only way to escape impending dangers. But be sure they can't talk about it because it's counter productive to their personal interest.
