FACT CHECK: Did FG Provide Registration Link For N25,000 Cash Transfer?

A post has been making the round on WhatsApp suggesting that the Federal Government is giving out the sum of N25,000 to Nigerians.

The message partly reads, “Federal Government 15 million household cash transfer program is ongoing. It further stated that N25,000 has been approved for three months to 15 million households. A link was attached to the message and it ended by asking receivers to share with others.

Verification
In a bid to verify the authenticity of this message, the fact-checkers at Daily Trust noticed it has many grammatical errors and the link was unsafe.
Further investigation revealed that the message is not from the federal government.

Jamaldeen Kabir, the National Communications Manager at the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA), told our correspondent that the federal government was not responsible for any online application for the renewed hope funds transfer.

“The federal government only recognizes the National Social Register and the Rapid Response Register which contains the information of vulnerable and poor Nigerians across the country.

“This register is in the hands of each state’s planning ministry and they liaise with traditional rulers to get lists of the poor members of the community,” he added.

Jamaldeen also noted there was no form to fill out or any link to follow for the application to get the funds from the government.

“The World Bank and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian only recognize information on the National Social Register and that is the list used to distribute the renewed hope funds,” he said.

Conclusion

Daily Trust can confirm that the federal government is not responsible for the message and the link circulating on WhatsApp, asking Nigerians to apply online for funds from the government. The message is false and misleading.

Why leave a ministerial position to be a senator?
cos senatorial position is a contested position unlike ministerial position that u can be fired at any time the president wishes.

A senator has better job security while a senior minister has bigger impact, in my opinion, depending on the ministry.

The Nigerian Senate is a cult of sophisticated shameless looters who bows to the dictates of the executive arm of government, an anomaly never recorded anywhere else on the planet.

Not really but he was tired of that Labour ministry. Nlc and Tuc have showed him pepper.😃

Why leave a ministerial position to be a senator?
Tinubu gave him a difficult job. The labour minister and federal government has been serially deceiving NLC, Johesu and labour unions by signing and reneging on agreements. Simon saw that this will give him a bad name in the long run and decided to flee than to be used as a pawn by tinubu to frustrate NLC and other unions which later will destroy his own political career when workers see him as the problem

Everything has worked out for some people in nigeria.
Imagine some resigning from senate to become minister and other resigning as minister to take senatorial seats.
While d majority are scared of leaving their office assistant job because if they do...they should all say O ti lo

Its not about being lucrative. You can't compare an elected position with an appointed position where you have to continuously 'worship' the appointor to prevent being sacked. A senator has the mandate of many people who he doesn't answer to until after 4yrs

Why leave a ministerial position to be a senator?

It's the politics of it. If he doesn't take it, PDP may take it

APC and Tinubu are setting a very bad precedence using the courts.

Tinubu is going against the will of the people using courts to install his APC stooges for the easy rigging in the next elections.

Nigerians are watching.
You are wrong.... PDP and LP started what they aren't capable of... they draw the battle line first using the Judiciary to fight the presidency thinking they can uproot jagaban from bn presido now that they didn't succeed the presidency is now using the same weapon to fight them Nd here u are talking about one bad precedence...... It time for Tinubu to play his own card against PDP&LP.......... They have messed with the wrong person Nd jagaban will remove those party from the history of this country

Not necessarily. It depends on the ministerial post. Also depends on if there is a chance the other party may take the senate seat

With the way courts and tribunals are nullifying elections results, I think all the election results need to be canceled.
