How did the Igbos welcome the colonial masters and what was the reaction of the colonial masters to the sort of welcome they received from the Igbos? Did any of those reactions include incarceration? Let's begin from there. We can also have a conversation about how convenient the British found it to imprison any Igbo person at the slightest hint of a conflict without hearing them out, but let's keep that for another day. The numbers don't lie, so do the facts. PS: Adults are supposed to be capable of complete thoughts, but if all adults were, there'd be fewer cases of idiots growing old too. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Igbo was more than half of the population of southern Nigeria. They will not believe the population of igbos in the 50s and 60s, they will not believe that the eastern economy was the fastest growing economy in the world in the 60s buy they will believe the prison statistics of the 60s. What a pathetic people 5 Likes 1 Share |

The Igbos were republican and stubborn against colonialists, they were known to rebel against any man who tries to lord over them, unlike we feudal and monarchical yorubas who invited colonialists to invade our land. Read the Aba women riot, read about the Ekumeku war (the longest war between the British and any African tribe), read about Igbo landing and read Achebe's Things fall apart. Rebels are not usually liked by the white colonialists, so it is not unusual that they will make up the most of their prisoners. Sorry to burst your bubble, my dear yoruba brother. Truth is bitter, but must be swallowed.. 4 Likes 2 Shares |
