Flawed article

Does not give figures, and only talks about what is happening in two hospitals, and is not comprehensive enough

But Ngige, the then minister of labour and productivity claimed Nigeria has enough health workers and those that want to japa should do so
The man and Prof Isaac Adewole are really nauseating. There is no insults these so called educated doctors didn't dish out to insult the sensibility of medical practitioners in Nigeria back then.

Fulanis,Yoruba and Hausa doctors remain dominant politically can fill up hospitals anywhere. Its a quota system syndrome.

This is good news. Since Nigeria cannot change by revolution, let Natural Selection reduce the number of unproductive people
in that contraption. I am sure the quacks left in the hospitals will do the needful. Let those who believe evil will favour them and
families keep living in delusion until one Nurse Eliza injects them with the wrong dosage or medications.
Too many morons breathing free air and polluting the intelligence of others.

There are many doctors looking for residency in Nigeria. Perhaps, now those without connection can get a place for residency.

That said, so that every doctor doesn't become consultant and run away, it is time to look into the earnings of doctor and try to make it favorable such that it is fair enough to make them stay. This applies to every other sector.
Not necessarily. It's actually makes more sense to leave than to apply for residency where you will only suffer bullying, be overworked and strike for any excuse. The number of people writing USLME and PLAB exams far outweigh those who are writing primaries.

Even the lecturers who would teach the doctors are leaving in droves, consultants are fleeing, nurses are fleeing, every one is fleeing and age isn't stopping them.

And indeed it is good export.

Like our legislatures posit, the universities should stop irrationally rationing admission for medicine and surgery.

They keep pushing over 90% of JAMB applicants to other less relevant sciences.

Since some years ago, the rate at which Nigerians leave "japa" the country is skyrocketing in a means of finding better life for themselves and Family. This is an avenue for business oriented people to key into this opportunity. It's an opportunity better the demand for Nigeria foods has increased overtime due to that reason. Now my request is: I need a faithful Nigerian/s living in anywhere overseas for business. The business is "sale of Nigeria foods"

So how comes many Doctors are jobless, or don't I have friends looking for Residency for ages now?

Something is not right somewhere. People are *japaring* yet their duties are said vacant, but yet: lots of joblessness out there.

Can someone really explain something to me!

The situation is going to be worse because 1. State government in the south west and east are not paying what they are supposed to pay compared with federal hospitals imagine COVID 19 and hazard allowances are just being negotiated in the states, they refused to pay areas. 2 . No new employment and disparities on entry point were some of the mitigating factor..
UK is planning incentives to encourage their people to become health workers but here in Nigeria those at the head of various government MDA from HOS , permanent secretaries of Estab, Finance and Health were not helping , what you will hear is govt have no money to pay or cannot pay etc.
We don't need to go on strike before most of the demands are met .

The medical profession will soon be oversaturated in the UK and Canada at which Pakistan, Nigerians, and Indians are storming the UK grin. The FG should review the medical study cut-off mark and also encourage the job by giving incentives like official cars to all medical Doctors like it was in the days of Awolowo

How much will you pay a doctor with the current inflation?
Ok, place them on salaries of at least ₦5,750,000 or $5000, monthly. Still not reflective of the salaries earned abroad for doctors, but enough to allow a reasonable living in today's Nigeria.

Good point. My ward that wants to do medicine is currently doing some other course as the jamb requirement was outrageous, even the scores required by the school.

To train a Nurse in Nigeria for a period of 5 years is about #12 m. While Doctor is about #15 m
To now spent such ridiculous amount and stay put in a salary of #55k and #80 k respectively is an insult . Whereas , as a Nurse in United state, your pay is $35/ hr. You work 8 hrs a day.
Nigeria should take care of her health workers.
Give them good pay...give them cars, give them houses.
Japa will stop.

Why the complaints about japaing doctors when you have so many of them waiting for the jobs they left behind? It's not like you can't replace them...why then will the hospitals shut down? Most of the doctors relocating are fresh doctors and those who are still doing residency training...no be say government has invested much in them.

Sebi Tinubu too no kuku different from those giving workers peanut monthly salary for people with wives and children the same amount of money they cannot give their girl/women friends for hairdressing. They are still saying new minimum wage to start in April for subsidy removed back in May. If not that traveling abroad is not easy nobody for still remain in this country apart from politicians and their families they are looting everything to get overfed and waste as much as possible

I specifically brought you here so as to expose that you don't even know much about the so called Lagos you always hype about. So where do you place yourself now Mr FreeStuffsNG?

Dishing out lies and propaganda to sugar-coat a precarious situation just to make a bad government feel good is bad for the nation. Always do it with some degree of sense and decorum.
Don't mind that ***hole. People who want freestuff never have sense.

Let them go to hell, they will soon realize the grass is not greener. Plenty of dumb foreign doctors driving uber in Canada. Enough with the emotional blackmail. We should pay them N10 million monthly because they are doctors pls let them fvck off.
