Same Britain has lost its identity, and is overan with migrants. other religions are allowed to pray in Britain, do you think Britain is really smart as it thinks.

For the sake of money and proving its an intelligent / balanced entity, it has lost its greatness and what it was.

Rather to remain relevant, it must be at the forefront of climate justice. grin grin grin

Today, violent migrants with unresolved issues from their countries, will make it unbalanced, dull and poorer cool cool

How can one said that Abacha is the biggest political thief in Nigeria? Oh, because he's late. The likes of IBB, Abdulsalam do you know how much they looted? Just because they're alive and nobody can question or probe their financial dealings. If Abacha were to be alive like IBB or Abdulsalam, will you or Nigeria Government know the extent of his loot?

This is no different from two presidents meeting. Each do not care if the other is evil. They are present to carry out official roles. Popes likely visited Hitler despite the world demonizing him.

General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Colonel Abdallah and Major Al-Mustapha.

This was the second time that the Pope came to Nigeria. He came in 1982 and I remember everything that happened during the 1982 visit.

He came to give Abacha a list of detainees to release. There were a lot of political prisoners then and the Pope came with a list of people that he wanted Abacha to release.

Was the list of detainees the pope came with made public?

I think it's about time that out religious leaders do a background check of Nigerian politicians before paying them visits because the Late head of state, general sanni abacha is the biggest thief in Nigeria political history.

Naptu2, Indeed, His Holiness, the late Pope came to Nigeria in March1998 for TWO reasons.

Virtually everyone who had previously commented on this thread has repeatedly mentioned only one of the two.

First, as customary, he visited the Head of State, being that he is himself the Head of Government of an independent State - the Vatican.

Pope John Paul II took that visit to intercede on behalf of the many political prisoners in jail at the time. The included President Obasanjo and all those roped in the 1995 and 1997 "phantom" coups - but the most important political prisoner at the time was Chief M.K.O Abiola who had won the 1993 General election.

However, the primary reason the Pope came to Nigeria was not to meet Abacha. After meeting Abacha, the Pope went to Aguleri in Anambra State for the Beatification of the late Monk who had died in 1960, Cyprian Iwene Tansi. Tansi is/was the first Nigerian to be so beatified, with is what majorly brought the Pope to Nigeria.

In the Roman Catholic Faith, Beatification (from Latin beatus, "blessed" and facere, "to make"wink is a recognition accorded of a deceased person's entrance into Heaven and capacity to intercede on behalf of individuals who pray in their name. Beati is the plural form, referring to those who have undergone the process of beatification; they possess the title of "Blessed", abbreviated as "Bl." before their names and are often referred to in English as "a Blessed" or, plurally, "Blesseds".

After beatification, the final step to being proclaimed a Saint is Cannonization.

The whites did to Abacha what they did to Gadafi of Libya. He Abacha proved to them that we don't need them to be a prosperous nation and they assassinated him and all the money he was saving for raining days was stamped on him to be looted funds.

Lmao. All the money he was “saving for raining days”. Boy, you are insane.

The question wasn't why did the Pope visit Nigeria. The question was why did he visit Abacha (and his family) and that's what I addressed. Of course I know that he came for the beatification of Cyprian Iwene Tansi.

The Nurse was not fired in Nigeria, Nigeria is not same as the UK.

The patient she prayed for has every right to sue her and the management of the health facility for traumatizing him/her through the "imposing" a religious activity on him or her. I also work here in the UK in a clinical role, during induction we were taught to keep our religious views, activities and beliefs to ourselves, if a patient requests for any form of religious engagement, the appropriate steps to take.

Thanks for that information.

But if you check a little back in history you'll discover that it was normal to render such prayers to the sick in UK hospitals....... until the UK saw the futility of religion and discarded Jesus.

Christianity was NEVER created to enlighten people, rather it was created to enslave people.

Ultimately, the nurse was fired because the UK is done with religion.

NB: Funny, enough I had this discussion with a complete novice here on Nairaland who didn't know that from the enlightenment period in Europe, they discarded religion.
