Economic recovery always shows up first in the numbers before it shows up on the streets. Most experienced investors bet on the time gap between numbers and manifestation by buying undervalued assets. Unfortunately the poor always begin investing late when the economy is booming which is usually always before economic cooling or even a reset.

If you are waiting for the visible booming of the economy you are going to be too late.

Friendly advice to those who have ears to hear.

haaaa!!!!! bros fear God and stop deceiving people. With the way the naira is sliding there is no way we can have a surplus, stop this lies abeg.

Nigeria has massive debts so one year is not going to change anything. All I am saying is that the numbers are an investors trading signals because good investors buy/invest ahead of the curve.

It's investment 101. Are you part of herd of cows or a Tiger hunting solo? Every investors choice.

NBS don come with their taichi statistics again.

NBS that is known to create their own model of statistical measurement contrary to every globally known and accepted system to promote propaganda.
What we exported and what we imported that created the trade surplus is not even stated, perhaps they are afraid they'll be busted again.

Your problem is that you don't read.

The report gave enough details of all you are asking here.

NBS will revise unemployment to 2% next year

They are stiffling consumer's purchasing power with their quack policies. You raised your dollar rate without increasing the minimum wage so it is normal that export with surpass import.

Arm-chair Economist, which one is 'Dollar rate'?

How can Nigeria export out space import? It’s simply impossible and won’t be possible for the next 20 years

Import dropped because imported items (e.g petrol, vehicles , Textiles etc) became very expensive, so many couldn't afford it. Petrol consumptions, including snuggling to neighbouring countries reduced drastically, many people now buy Nigerian second hand vehicles instead of Tokunbo cars.

What Nigeria need urgently is to increase export and started adding values to whatever are produced locally, this will create millions of jobs and take millions our of poverty.

Most Nigerians don't understand economic topics and the few educated ones that try to do base all their understandings of economic issues solely on exchange rates and fuel pump prices.

Import bills can drop because imported items become too expensive for most people in Nigeria to buy.

Number item on the importation bill - PETROL: consumption rates (including smuggling to neighbouring countries) has reduced drastically due to removal of subsidy

Importations of automobiles and luxurious items has also reduced.

I disagree. The indices are not good but the trend line and rate of depreciation has slowed. Recovery does not happen in quarter not with the massive funding over hang we have.

Interesting that you say you are in the finance industry because if there is one sector that is an effective and non productive tax on the Nigerian people it is banking. If it is stockbroking its a merry go round of money that creates paper millionaires and no value.

And that's the thing isn't it? We've all been part of the decline - whether it is our penchant for imported things, our government and civil servants rape of the economy or the banking sectors failure to dream up better products and service even when they get access to concessional funds. We've all helped to maim the cow called Nigeria.

Commendable, but our Naira is mercilessly declining against the Dollar

The federal government should Ban importation of petrol and petroleum products into the country
Even against CFA

In other words, they made ppl poorer, so even the importers could no longer import the volume and items they used to before. Not that export increased o! It may either have stagnated or even reduced, but import volume and items have been seriously diminished, because ppl have been made poorer

Easy.
