If you are a car owner in Nigeria you need to be very sharp and attentive, before you take your car to any mechanic you must first try as much as possible to diagnose the problem.

I bought a car in August, a direct Belgium car, as soon as I bought the car I called my mechanic to change the tyres and brake pads, guess what?
After changing tyres, this mechanic intentionally put bad, oversized brake pads, after like 2 days I started noticing smoke from my tyres, whenever I match brake I will hear a very loud noise I was angry so I called the mechanic again and told him the issue, he said brake pad is ok that I need to change one disk shaped metal that the brake pad rests on, I did so for
25k and after 24hr the noise returned, he already removed the follow come stuff and replaced it with an ugly rusted one. I was suspicious.
When the noise returned I decided to take it to total filling station mechanics, after explaining to the guys they said the problem is the brake pad. They changed it and till this day no single noise from my tires, I haven't changed brake pad since then.

Since then I have met 2 different mechanics and one thing I discovered was that these mechanics usually give wrong diagnosis intentionally especially if your car is still neat with follow come parts, example if your ac gas finish they will say you need to change ac sensor, they will remove your follow come ac sensor and put substandard one. After everything they will sell your follow come sensor to spare parts dealers and before you know it your car will be a total mess.

Lol this kin thing almost make me fight mechanic last yr. I was using a German car last year and on evening the car stopped and refused to start, the mechanic came that evening saying its plug we changed plug that night still car no start, we continue the next day, he said to change fuel pump, still no start.. trial and error my car de outside for good 2 days on the second day the guy managed to get the car to start but then all my dash board light came on, oil light, fuel light, engine light, seeing that I was pissed he gave up and decided to take me to a German car specialist but on the way the car stopped omoh... so we called the specialist to come meet us. He came and connected his laptop to the car and told us it electrical fault after I already spent more than 50k on fuel pump I was about to Assault my mechanic but people held me, finally I bought some fuse and stuff after every every I didn't spend up to 10k. I left mechanic shop by 9pm, dust, heat finished my life that day

I try to monitor each repair and practice it later, most minor things we don't even need mechanics

As long as you only know how to jump in, drive and jump out. You will still be fooled by mechanics.

Yeah same thing happened to me about 2 weeks back. My camry which I usually flog a t top speed broke down by 5.30am on my way to ilorin. I first thought it was fuel.bought another 3k fuel.e no start. Went to check fuel pump e no start. By 9am.my useless mechanic came.i said let's check plugs.after that he said it's kick starter.i said never if it was kick-start e for no even alow Mr comot house. After wasting 10k. It was one to 4 useless fuse that got burnt and cracked . The useless rewire still took 3k from me. Just imagine..fuse.

Most times if ur car refuse to kick is definitely a fuse problem, especially when you are sure ur battery is strong. I try to be very friendly when i meet a mechanic or electrician. I try as much as possible to monitor them as they are working on the car. Most electrical faults in a car especially japanese cars wont cost u more than 4k to fix. If mechanic say him want go buy parts, mark the faulty part and he should come back with it. Most importantly for electrical faults dey find mech wey get that diagnosis app and can read it well.

When you try to be friendly but still monitor them closely some of them, the dubious ones will start getting angry and hostile.
