So will they still be hiring them from the current Nigerian population? Or will they be hiring people from outside the country who are not Nigerians?
The reason for the dumb questions is that - if they hire from this current crop of Nigerians regardless of education and orientation, they will still be corrupt if not worse.

I always laugh when a typical Nigerian knows that he or she is corrupt, her society is corrupt, and the family members are potential thieves if given the opportunity but they still turn around and expect their police, politicians, and other institutions to be corruption free. How is that possible?
Your institutions are a reflection of your society. corrupt society produces corrupt politicians, civil servants, politicians, mechanics, tailors, and the list goes on and on.

Until a vast majority of our society is ethical and moral, you will continue to have bad eggs like these.

You no even rate yourself. Why now? Don't you think there are Nigerians who can do better? Must we allow these criminals make us believe there are no Nigerians with better principles? So who were those cleaners and drivers returning millions of naira lost by travelers?

A lot of public officers display the wrong sense of judgement in the discharge of their duties, like these hapless ones. I just hope and pray to the Living God that those who have sanctioned the dismissal of these unfortunate scapegoats have never benefited from these schemes. God is not man, He always dispenses justice right.

Going by standards and performance, the entire NPF needs to be disbanded and re-hiring should follow strict guidelines, with graduates included in the hiring process

Graduates you said?

How about those in state secretariat's? Ain't they graduates.

It's not about the level of education. Generally speaking, every Nigerian is ready to take advantage of his position.

This is a case of the Nigerian Police using these poor guys as Scapegoats. At least, for the first time, I am heartbroken by this particular dismissal. What they did was improper but they were playful and friendly at it. It all appeared like a joke! But this dismissal is serious!! This still doesn't stop the Nigerian Policemen from being notorious, just come to my area starting from Area M Police Command Idimu (these ones are so daring - they blatantly create gridlock down to Egbeda, mounting illegal stop and search from dusk to dawn), Ikotun Police Station (these ones arrested and assaulted me years back while I was in NYSC Uniform, for carrying a Laptop without receipt and I haven't forgiven them for it), Igando (Igando Police State should be disbanded! they are completely useless, mount road block from 9am to 7pm), Isashi (Isashi Police Station should be demolished for harbouring lawless men in uniforms), Agbara down to Badagry.

A very big lesson has bn learnt here by other policemen!

Very harsh. Other punitive measures would have been meted to them.

You are missing the point. I'm sure there are some decent and ethical Nigerians but they are very few. The fact is that the majority of Nigerians will steal if given the opportunity especially if they think that they can get away with it. Most are stealing even though they know that there's a very good chance of getting caught.
No society is 100 percent corrupt or ethical but you need a vast majority of your people to be ethical to have the kind of institutions like police to be good. If the vast majority are corrupt then you cannot have a good police force and other institutions. It's not the top people that make your society run smoothly, it's the everyday police officer, civil servant, immigration officer, court clerk, petrol attendant, Nurse in the hospital, the Doctors at public hospitals, etc. If these are not ethical and are corrupt, you can have all the laws you want, but it will still be a messed up system. That's just the reality of life.
Compare the average Scandinavian to the average Nigerian or African. And most Scandinavians are not rich by the way but they are usually satisfied with what they have.

Not up to the extent of threatening the life of the other person, if they only asked for money as per roger, there won't have been persecuted but they went as far as seizing the gear of the lady. Emotions aside I think this is the right punishment.

Pls don't only dismiss him send him to court to be sentence with minimum 5 years imprisonment, they have really abused the uniform to the point anyone caught in a wrong act must be severely punish.

It was jovial as Yoruba use to tell someone who comes from a journey welcome what did you bring from journey. He was so excited when he saw the white woman riding a bike from outside Africa continent to Nigeria. I don't see reason why they are to be dismissed.

This is NOTHING but a window dressing ploy. The Police dismissed these two crooked cops simply because a foreigner and white person was involved and the incident became a headline news around the world. Otherwise, it would have been swept under the rug just like most of such incidents that occur daily in that contraption called Liegeria. I am glad though that the two good for nothing crooked cops were fired.

Graduates have less tendencies to shoot guns anyhow on innocent civilians at the slightest provocation.

With better supervision, training and good pay, they’ll do better jobs
