Their travel for greener pasture in overseas countries will give opportunities to other Nigerians to fill the positions they left behind.

I remember VIVIDLY when Chris Ngige said the doctors and medical practitioners can go, we have more than enough. Even in drunkenness, one should apply wisdom before talking

I remember vividly... Chris Ngige was a disaster under Buhari.

Despite the fact that he's a doctor, he failed to demonstrate empathy or even show concern for worker's welfare... now the brain drain is more than obvious, even lab techs and nursing assistants are leaving in droves.

There should be a state of emergency declare on 2 sectors in Nigeria if Tinubu is serious about making the country a tad bit better.

- Security
- Power

50% of people leaving the country is not for money exactly, but for simple peace of mind that basic amenities provide

how can I feel safe walking on the street of a foreign country by 3am than my own country, it is almost a suicide mission for a lady to walk alone in the street of say ojeulegba by 9pm

More than that number will leave this year unless government officials at all level start to see humans as fellow humans with equal rights, accept that they are just holding their positions to serve the people and the masses are not their slaves.

I want you to understand something about patriotism. It just leadership by example. That's all. Why should a politician I feed with my tax use same to for medicals abroad whereas the policeman securing him cannot get such. You want me to stay behind because I love my country. You don't wish me well then. Tell your leaders to build standard infrastructures, pay wages as at when due and provide adequate security. People will come back without hesitation.

I tell people that with this Japa syndrome, the West will take all the useful people in this country, leaving us with dregs of society who spend 24/7 online hailing Tinubu and attacking those who criticize this clueless government.

Going by your senseless comment, those who will remain here to criticize Tinubu are also part of the remnants of the so called "dregs of society." Even fuuls sometimes think they are making sense lol

Nigeria is already the 6th most populous country in the World according to World population statistics.

At the rate health workers leave the country in droves to other climes with lesser populations, we have a very big problem at hand.

But our leaders are short-sighted.
I pray God liberates the country from poor leadership.
Re: Japa: 10,697 Medical Laboratory Scientists Left Nigeria – Registrar by Tbasicme: 12:14pm On Jan 01
God bless them for the right choice they made. We go get sense by force.

TruthsFM:
The Registrar, Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, MLSCN, Tosan Erhabor, on Sunday said a total of 10,697 medical laboratory scientists had left the country.

The Registrar said more than 4,504 medical laboratory scientists left the country in 2023, attributing the migration by medical scientists from the country to different reasons

Erhabor who revealed this to newsmen, added that a policy is being put together by the Federal Ministry of Health to address the problem.

He noted that when launched, the policy would regulate the migration of Nigerian health workers.

The registrar said that the government has reviewed the hazard allowance of health professionals to boost their productivity.

He said, “The total number of medical laboratory scientists that have migrated is 10,697.

“The government is considering reviewing the minimum wage and certain peculiar allowances for health professionals.

“A safe and conducive work environment can be a panacea to reducing the pace of brain drain amongst medical laboratories,” he said.

He continued, “Some are leaving as a result of poor remuneration and uncertainties in their career progression in teaching hospitals.

“Others are leaving in order to study abroad, acquire new skills and enhance their professional status.”

Why not? You Nigerians keep on showing how unperceptive you are.

First the government can simply stop making passports and impose very tough conditions for getting one

Second, the APC is ideologically opposed to out migration of Nigerians. If you doubt this:

1) You don't understand that APC is socialist. Socialist governments believe they OWN you. Soviet Union and East Germany.

2) Go and check Buhari's record as President from 1984. He campaigned against migration

3) All APC supporters on Nairaland hate out migration. It's even likely they're being paid by the party to promote that argument.

4) Nigeria is now a one party Islamic State. They have the power to actually implement what they want.

It's a serious thing. If APC leaders take the decision to block out migration what exactly can ANYONE do about it?

Good Luck to Nigeria.
