What most people do not know about this job is that some of the individuals can be very nasty and difficult to work with particularly the seniors with the onset of dementia and all that stuff.

Most people in the field, even the whites, would never categorize this as an outright abuse though.

Human rights, human rights, is how they've emboldened and made the individuals difficult to manage, and when you allow them to keep their human rights in their filthiness and unkemptness, the authorities will still be the ones to complain about abandonment.

If we had a country or leadership, they would have been left to be cleaning up their own mess however it pleases them.

For the miscreant up there saying "People won't do this kind of job in Nigeria but will do it abroad". Your ignorance is "Harvard-trained". What government or private entities will pay people who do these jobs abroad what they make in 3-4 hours daily?

Nonsense.

Hiss!
You really don't get why they did that, do you? It is the job they really didn't like but they liked the money that comes with it. Those are the kind of jobs that many Nigerians wouldn't like to do here no matter the pay but travelling abroad with no skill gives them no options to choose from but to settle with what is available. The sacrifice of japa with no skills

You are right. But as long as they agreed to to do the job, there is no reason for them to collect the money and hate the job.

That's why they shouldn't manhandle or maltreat their patients. They are called PATIENTS for a reason.
And stop calling people miscreants for expressing their opinions without abusing you first. It shows you lack maturity, respect, and not in control of your emotions

I took time and watch the video. There are no signs of abuse. For Bleep sake they were doing their jobs. The old lady has dementia and they can be a pain to work with, or for.

From age 80, most humans become kids and start to act like kids, and at that stage they need compassion and not cruelty.

The simple truth is that Nigerians abroad shouldn't involve in any care giving job if they don't want to end up prison due to the way we were raised. It has to do with our own environment and culture where we grew up. How do we treat our kids who throw up tantrums? How do we treat the ones who are "stubborn"? How do whites respond to those kids? We in Nigeria spank, scold or punish them. Whites placate or ignore them.
Now, imagine Nigerians and whites in care giving business given those two contrasting backgrounds!

Why the shaming ?? and who’s a shzt packer ??

The British and American carers are not packers but trained and professional healthcare givers who after serious vetting and training are able to carry out duties.
The human Feaces is just another bodily matter and there is nothing wrong in cleaning it as part of a job requirement.
The adults fecal matter isn’t a smelly one, these Adults have to poo often due to various drug treatments & old age, even the Poo is adulterated with syrup, food and other medicines that they ingest hours earlier .. so they hardly smell foul, just a slight odour.

Care givers mostly safeguard adults and document incidents.
Some who trains up to level 4 can administer daily/ long term drugs

Kudos to ALL hardworking Caregivers 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇳🇬

Where is the maltreatment?

I didn't see them beating her on any other form of physical abuse.

Anyone who has lived with people with dementia will know taking care of people with dementia are one of the hardest things to do, especially if such individuals are old and stubborn naturally.

Maybe the UK authorities themselves should take it upon themselves to take care of that woman individually for just a week and let's see if they won't do worse to that aged woman than those four Nigerians.

Must you take up the job if you can't perform your duty to the letters as it is stated? Must you sign the papers, collect cool money and be giving excuses as to why you are not doing the job as it is required?
Taking care of your own parents or kids where nobody pays you is different from taking care of someone else's parents or kids and getting paid for it.
The job is frustrating but it is either you do it and collect the money or quit and forget about the pay. You can opt for street or plates cleaning job or IT job grin grin grin

Were they forced or placed under duress to take the job?

They were given a proposal to work, they accepted, so what's the fuss?

If you can't do d job or you know d woman is problematic, you resign and look for another job or another patient, why torture her?

Is torturing her the solution to her stubbornness?

Yes I watched the video and there are more humane ways to handle a person who is at the last lap of his/her years on earth. Care givers usually have training to make them understand the requirements of the job, if they knew that they were being recorded, would they have acted like that? The answer is NO! They would have used their brains to find a better way to handle the situation.

If they couldn't handle the job with professionalism, they should have quit honourably and go work on a farm, in a factory or at McDonald's.

Lol. This is typical of Nigerian nurses. They treat you like trash and shit. Visit Nigerian government hospitals and see how these always-angry nurses treat people and you would lose every hope in humanity. They deserve what they got..and infact, worse. After Nigeria police, fear Nigerian nurses. Nigeria doctors literally act like gods..they don't even care whether you die or live.

Why did they collect money from the grandchildren to do caregiving to an 89 year-old woman? They could have rejected the offer and moved on to maybe farming jobs. If they knew that they were being recorded and they risked jail time, do you think that they wouldn't have used their brain to handle the situation in a more humane way? They acted that way because they thought they were not being watched... Seriously, if you were in their shoes and you knew that there were cameras everywhere and there was a risk of you going to jail, would you act like them? The answer is NO!

Try and be factual. The guy said the right thing. If you can't do the job why apply for it. Why travel all the way. The woman has dementia for Christ sake. Can they do that to their mum even if she is supposedly difficult. Well , you spoke racism. Na white woman. They will be in jail for a long time.

Go back to read my comment, digest it then reply again.

So that the woman is difficult to deal with means the man can hit her with the pillow? Like I said in my comments it's very challenging to deal with demented grannies. Everything is a task with them. There are some forces that needs to be used to get things done around them. When doing so it needs to be moderately applied. But you shouldn't hit them.

In fact there's an avenue for them to report to their supervisors if their patients are abusive and difficult to deal with. But I guess they need the job more than the risks involved in doing the right thing.

Also you should be matured enough to know that insult isn't necessary when engaging in discussion. You can make a point without insulting others. Shut up is an insult.

Read my comment again please
noo it’s not an insult am much older than you, so I can address u with that, well sorry if it’s harsh on you, pillow is not a weapon so it doesn’t hurt why are u people blowing up this thing out of proportion ? The most difficult job in the world is taking care of mentally sick patients talkless of dementia, read up the disease and it’s effects on the brain, if not for poor economy everyone go Dey his country, her own children should come and take care of their mother period .than using her as a trap for others, now this four young adults are suffering in jail for agreeing to take care of a 89 year old demented woman that suppose don die since

This is not entirely true. Some have degrees, including UK health and social care degrees. Some like the flexibility that some other 9-5 jobs may not give them, others may be postgrad students doing it. Even UK citizens born and bred who were nurses, civil servants and others come into the sector later for various reasons.
I do not envy those supporting dementia patients in whatever setting. It's a very challenging geriatric condition as it progresses.

Even those otherwise happy doing the job can lose it at times BUT no excuse for their action.
