That work in other countries will not necessarily work here.

Nigeria is a unique and peculiar country!

We need to have a very functional and strong police force before we can allow guns. Our crime rate will just skyrocket. I am pro guns too but naija ain't ready.

They are moving to cities little by little. In fact, it's their major plan. If nothing is done now, you will soon see what will follow.

It would increase crime rate the more. The problem is our govt. If the govt in those states can be strict to insecurity like Wike, all these would have reduced to the minimum but the Northern Govt are pampering these terrorists and this is making things worst. These guys keep protecting the ruthless terrorists. E.g Shiek Gumi(the Ambassador of Terrorists) yet our so-called DSS have refused to arrest him.

Nigerians should have a right to own Guns 🔫 🔫 🔫 and defend themselves against religious extremists like that Nairaland terrorist called Postinor

Get a gun and kill Postinor and members of his terrorist group if they cross your path...

E nor go better for Postinor this New Year...

Postinor (The useless terrorist) must die

We are not going to legalize gun ownership in Nigeria, else this country is gone. Stop the copy and paste. As organized as the USA, they are still battling with it.
And who gave those herdsmen, armed ribbers, bandits & kidnappers their own. Once everyone holds a gun, there shall be check & balances as everyone shall be careful.

It is not as simple as that. Knowing Nigeria, there will be mayhem, the type never witnessed before.

Even if they legalize the guns, how many people in Nigeria will be able to afford the cost and the bullet or amunitions, or will the government distribute them for free to the public? Or is gun that easily cheap to obtain

What gives most criminals the audacity to attack people is because people are defenseless. But one thing I am scared of is people abusing that privilege. Someone might just be frustrated and just decides to kill just to vent.

My opinion, each state should run it's own police and the community where you live operates it's own security personnel (more like vigilante) which is in 24/7 contact and synergy with the state police. That way, familes would be safer than every family owning a gun?

Bad idea

Yeah it is... But, it is better than defenseless people being slaughtered like goats.

In the failure to secure your nation, you allow people defend themselves.

We've been calling for better state and national security for years now, and it has continued to fall on deaf ears.

If things don't change, the revolution will be bloody!!!

You can't just assume Nigerians will keep swallowing this nonsense forever.

But then what is the solution?

I should think it makes sense - give guns to the innocent and vulnerable. They claim to carry guns to protect their cattle, it only makes sense that farmers have guns to protect their farms as well. By the way, this is also what is obtained in the more civilized world.

Other then the United States, mention the country you know where Citizens under their constitution are allowed to carry arms?

And mind you that was enshrined in their constitution to allow the Oyibos seize the land of the red indians.

If the government won't make public the sponsors of insecurity, if they cannot go after terrorists and their sponsors, they should allow the victims of insecurity to own guns.
