The apex Igbo sociocultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against declaring a state of emergency over the current economic hardship Nigerians are experiencing.

A chieftain of Ohanaeze, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said declaring a state of emergency would serve as a diversion that would fail to address the sufferings Nigerians are experiencing.

Speaking with DAILY POST, Isiguzoro reiterated the call to take decisive steps by dismantling his economic team and replacing them with accomplished economists and policymakers.

The factional Secretary-General of Ohanaeze urged Tinubu to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians through the implementation of sustainable economic solutions, including debt relief, reduction of governance costs, temporary fuel subsidy restoration, and subsidized fertilizers for farmers.

According to Isiguzoro: “In a momentous and persuasive declaration, Ohanaeze Ndigbo tackles the critical issues plaguing our nation under the leadership of Tinubu. It is explicit: Nigerians and Ndigbo require tangible and practical solutions to extricate themselves from the current economic hardships.

“Mere words and any declaration of a state of emergency by Tinubu will serve as a diversion that will fail to address the substantial suffering and challenges faced by the people. To resolve these entrenched issues necessitates concrete action far beyond symbolic gestures.

“Tinubu must take decisive steps to alleviate the pervasive economic hardships. This includes dismantling his ineffective economic team and monetary policymakers and replacing them with accomplished economists of international stature such as Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, and Kalu Idika Kalu.

“Seeking their expertise is imperative to salvage the economy from ruin, as failure to do so will result in dire consequences with profound political and security ramifications.

“By enlisting international experts like Okonjo-Iweala, Adesina, and Idika Kalu, Tinubu can prioritize the welfare of Nigerians through the implementation of sustainable economic solutions, including debt relief, reduction of governance costs, temporary fuel subsidy restoration, and subsidized fertilizers for farmers. It is paramount to seek viable strategies to alleviate the burdens on ordinary Nigerians during this economic crisis."

Hmmm. While some cannibals were selling their votes for Okpa and jollof. Let's not mention those that were hijacking onion trucks before subsidy removal or those trafficking their bodies for a plate of coke and Indomie.

when people understand that Tinubu has absolutely no plan to do any good for Nigeria and to Nigeria, then you will have peace and prepare for the worst. his only agenda is "emilokan". he has achieved. what are people still expecting him to do?

The only thing that can reduce the socio-political tension today in Nigeria is immediate commencement of political restructuring of Nigeria in a Sovereign National Conference.
It's hard to understand why Bola Tinubu who raced through the nooks and crannies of the SW region for about 12 years asking for political restructuring of Nigeria, has failed to make political restructuring his first priority.
The woes of Nigeria today resulted from the country's impracticable unitary government system in a country of diverse ethno-religious groups.
Centrifugal forces acting on Nigeria from the diverse ethno-religious groups are responsible for the woes of Nigeria
.

The part of Nigeria which adopted unconstitutional Islamic sharia criminal laws between 1999-2001 knows much about the Centrifugal forces acting on Nigeria but refuses political restructuring because of lucre in the south.

Oga, de thing pain you, no be small. Anyway, the southeasterners are not only in the SW; they’re everywhere, including their homeland. Instead of making baseless comparisons, you should be thanking them for their clairvoyance against bad leaders, such as Buhari and Tinubu. More so, you should be grateful for their presence, needed for creating opportunities for y’all and contributing to the growth and security of your towns and villages .
