How did he know the financial condition of Nigeria when he had barely sat on the seat?

this is a very good question, infact the so called special adviser is not even appointed yet or any economic team, them who advised our president to make that speech?courage from drugs?gaffe? arrogance or simply joking,,maybe hubris, but what all Nigerians know now is that the subsidy removal and floating of the naira is a catastrophic mistake, that is the reason buhari refused to do those things

Babachir is right...he didn't even know the exact situation on ground as at the time he announced that "subsidy is gone"...it was hasty and rather ill-timed

And after removing subsidy Nigeria got into more financial troubles and took more loans, not only that he went back to start paying subsidy at almost 1 trillion monthly higher than what B cool cooluhari was paying... And yet some people want us to believe he is a master strategist...

When Tinubu was removing the fuel subsidy and floating the naira I told a lot of Tinubu supporters that Tinubu was putting the cart before the horse, now they know better...

Subsidy was to go by June, that's enough time to look for money and run for at least another 6 months.
National Assembly could have come later after inauguration and pass a supplementary budget to cover that while you cut down cost of government to fund it

I think oga Bayo and Co need to quickly recall Lord Lai Mohammed from his rest, this APC government need his supreme skills very badly. I mean; if an elder statesman wants to even lie, he should at least use his brain.

Because at this rate, if oga Bayo keeps lying to hungry Nigerians like a 1year old mangabey attempting to hide stolen bananas in an open cage, he might be lynched by an angry mob.

But the question is, why would Buhari make provision for subsidy for only the first 6 months of the year, knowing that his successor would be carrying such heavy load??
There's always room for a supplementary budget. Even Tinubu presented one last year. Just that the Ntb yacht, Nrb for the renovation of dodan barracks, N5b for the renovation of Aso rock, over N80b for SUVs, etc were more important items on his agenda.

Tinubu showed strong leadership by making a tough decision to remove the petrol subsidy, which ultimately helped to improve the countrys financial situation. His actions were necessary and beneficial for Nigerians in the long run.

Removing subsidy without having an economic team first is a disaster and his first class in economics should be questioned.

Someone here said he should have worked with a supplementary budget. You just read that over 97% of our revenue was being used to service loans. And we were even at the brink of defaulting.... Yet you are saying he should have borrowed more money....

Is he not still paying for Subsidy? It is unfortunate you people are still deceiving Nigerians.

The money for presidential yacht, for the renovation of dodan barracks, N5b for the renovation of Aso rock, and over N80b for bulletproof SUVs etc. Na for where the money come out, Shay Buhari present am for 2023 budget? When it comes to what benefits the common masses, they will remember Nigeria is broke, but when it comes to what benefits them, then Nigeria is no longer broke.

It is not a.good question. He ( Onanuga ) was one of the media person closest to BAT during his electioneering campaign and afterward. Kindly note that before any new govt will be coming on board , a transition team would have been set up by both the incoming and the outgoing to get all necessary information to work on prior to him taking the mantle. The incoming also get important briefings , including that of security , so he ( Tinubu and his team ) knows much before inauguration and much more after .

Desperate times require desperate measures

Didn't he borrow more money? Where did the money in the supplementary budget he sent to the house come from?

Are u for real?
They are still paying subsidy at a higher rate now! Why do u think fuel is below 700 when every other product is flying up??

There was no desperation anywhere. The only desperate situation then was insecurity.
And you can see it still festering and waxing strong!

Transition committee briefing is not enough to give you proper insight on what's truly on ground.

As pissed as buhari claimed he was with subsidy, he never axed it on his first day at work and eight years later.

Removing petrol subsidy may be a good thing, but you don't do it until you have all the facts.

What were the safety nets he put in place to cushion the serious fall out of such removal?

Now, he and his team are running from pillar to post dusting up palliatives that insults Nigerians further and you say the man has sense in his head. Who puts the cart before the horse?

Tinubu was driven by hasty arrogance that's all!

Fuel ought to be around 1500 per liter if not for subsidy. Why do u think fuel remained below 700 when all other products are flying up? They realized Nigerians will revolt if fuel starts skyrocketing without control, so they started subsidizing it. Something they removed at 195, they started paying more at 700.
