I hope the relevant authorities will listen, only in Nigeria is alcohol sold everywhere without any restrictions.
Not only that, it is also in Nigeria that alcohol is so cheap that people can easily access it without any restrictions.
To mitigate this threat of alcoholism leading to unjustified accidents, 2 major measures must be taken by the authorities:
1. Impose huge taxes on alcohol sales to reduce abuse. this will help because, before someone is drunk, their pocket must first be drunk, and this will discourage excessive drinking.
2. Regulate alcohol sales and impose penalties on any store selling alcohol without undergoing the rigorous licensing process which depends primarily on location. It should not be close to a hospital, school, worship center, children's recreation areas, factories, etc.
If the above points can be implemented, I am sure over 50% of accidents on our roads will be eradicated.

What victims and family of the deceased need to do is get good lawyers to sue the city for their injuries or death. Money is an issue? The better lawyers will take up such a case for an agreed percent of the amount awarded by the courts. The laws are there .. but most people say it is a waste of time to go to court ... nothing will happen ... despite seeing some going to court and being awarded millions. We need to stop begging and wishing that people and agencies do the right thing but instead taking them to court and make them pay for their mistakes. Only then we will see them become responsible.
