In 2013 Peter Obi shared 22,500 computers to government secondary schools in 177 towns that make up state called Anambra. He also shared 520 transformers to secondary schools. He also shared Hiace bus to all the secondary schools in Anambra. He later shared sound proof generator to all the secondary schools in Anambra state.
In 2024 Soludo is giving one computer to each school. Ndi Anambra are you people moving forward or backward?
Soludo is giving his best but the standard already set by the Ngige, Obi and even Obiano is high for him to maintain.
No government in Nigeria now can't match Peter Obi's input in primary and secondary education.
I am pleading with those marketing Soludo's achievement here in nairaland to look at what their predecessors did before belittling Anambra state in name awareness.

A pathetic attempt to rubbish Obi by a gnat whose only claim to fame is posting propaganda on Nairaland.

Nobody who was on ground, non partisan and financially independent during Obi's time will open mouth to say that Soludo is better.

What makes this even more pathetic is that Obi was giving out thousands of laptops during his own time so this tool is praising Soludo and knocking Obi for an action of Soludo's that is a repeat broadcast of what Obi did.

In real life they are not involved in anything meaningful so they must rely on stipends to lie for the govt.

Soludo employed 5000 teachers increased their salary, declared fee education just under 2yrs of his administration, I can bet you that Soludo will beat Obi's hands down by the time he complete his tenure, I hope you are seeing the massive infrastructure he is providing just under two years

Meanwhile, PDP declared education free in Nigeira for 9 years during the Obasanjo administration, through matching funds to states from UBEC. This was before Soludo's failed attempt to be Anambra governor in 2010.

You shouldn't assume and besides no matter the quality, it can still serve for strictly academic purposes.

Or you expect them to save Nollywood videos and large files like music production softwares in it?

Even if that's the case, they can easily get external storage to complement.

issuing of laptops, imho, does not work - especially if you are giving them to technically illiterate users

there is the risk of theft
risk that they or someone close to them will use the devices for fraud
the laptops may be sold
the laptops are fragile amd in the hands of the wrong person can get damaged quickly

what soludo should have done is set up ict center in each school with an IT administrator
and busy desktops [monitor and mini pc]. a large number of banks provide some cadre of workers with desktops, so it is already being done

in two years, 75% of these laptops will begone one way or another

50% will be gone within one year sir.

Most of the laptops will be used to watch movies, nothing else. Several of them will be repaired within one year, and many will be damaged beyond repair, especially those given to women with kids at home.

I remember when the government shared laptops teachers in a technical school here. Somehow, I was among those who were to teach the teachers how to operate them. The kind of questions they ask will make you weak.

You will see clearly that only a few have a need for it; the rest would have preferred an Android phone. Not like many even use that one for anything useful aside from calls.

Sharing laptops to teachers is an ill-thought project, another avenue to loot because they usually provide low-grade laptops that lag like those old government buses.

This is good from Soludo, but training should have been done for them first. How many of them can use laptop effectively for research purposes that will benefit their work beyond mere using it for Facebook and watching Nollywood movies ? There is probability that half of these population will give the laptop to their schooling children where some will use it for yahoo-yahoo and some for semi-educated matters. To me it is just like giving them these laptops as part of their own sharing benefit from government similar to indirect political bribery. Soludo should have set up 3/4 weeks training session first with them before handing over laptop for them
