Explain how teachers laptop that most don't even know basic computer skills will develop Anambra into smart city. Without youth engagement and establishment of ICT Hubs and labs how dat will be possible.

This is very commendable but u personally don't see a need for it going by same distribution in Ekiti State during the first tenure of Governor Kayode Fayemi. The laptop were used by the teachers' children to watch movies or something not the intended reason for sharing. It only becomes reasonable if they are truly used to prepare lesson notes and can share such note in soft copy to students. It's not everything novel that is necessary.

Good, but one would have thought Nigeria had gone beyond that level. The PS or a DG in Anambra State ministry of education could have sent the laptops by courier to them without any photo noise, but it is now a big deal that the governor must celebrate. Na wa o.

Other smart states should follow suit, some states don't have head teacher office because their buildings are dilapidated but worst of the case is that they don't have students data base and the traditional school roll register or classroom counting is outdated as it cannot give customize information about the students so in the case of school records, exams registration, results and saving information, and transferring of students results, the schools still lacks behind. So it's a good move in the right direction by anambra govt. if this will bring good dev. to schools

issuing of laptops, imho, does not work - especially if you are giving them to technically illiterate users

there is the risk of theft
risk that they or someone close to them will use the devices for fraud
the laptops may be sold
the laptops are fragile amd in the hands of the wrong person can get damaged quickly

what soludo should have done is set up ict center in each school with an IT administrator
and busy desktops [monitor and mini pc]. a large number of banks provide some cadre of workers with desktops, so it is already being done

in two years, 75% of these laptops will begone one way or another

In line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's mantra of "technology everywhere, everything technology", 2000 Head Teachers and Principals of public and public-mission schools have benefited from Anambra state government's free laptops.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo performed the first phase of distribution of the laptops at the International Convention Centre, Awka today.

According to the Governor, his administration is aspiring to get Anambra Public School's to become smart, calling on the head teachers to also aspire to become smart.

The Governor assured of working out a structured training programme that will enable teachers be at the cutting edge of technology, and emphasized that as resources continue to improve, the largese will cascade down the line.

The Governor who revealed that as a result of the free education in the state, enrollment in public schools in Anambra has gone up to about 20 percent, announcing that the enrollment percentage will still go up.

He assured that his administration will continue to place great importance on quality of teachers and quality of teaching, leveraging partnership with the private sector and communities because government alone cannot do development work alone.

While stating that the initiative ties into the six comprehensive pillars of education, the Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh described the event as epoch making in the history of the state,and said the education family as the most favoured in the present administration.

The Chairperson of Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu described the Governor as being compassionate to principals, teachers and students, announced that approval has been secured to equip laboratories in all the schools.

The Chairperson of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi said that the initiative is in line with the Governor's promise of equipping the schools with government laptops as well as facilitate access to wi-fi, as the transformation agenda seeks to position public schools in Anambra as models.

You can just encourage him to provide more things that are lacking and train the teachers on computer literacy
