Racoon: It's not just an individual who wants to be called 'sir'. It's the military where rank is everything. They have traditions. He could call him 'officer' while talking about him to a third party, but they don't use that term to call the attention of thier senior. Even in mere secondary schools, a JSS1 student wouldn't say 'student' when calling the attention of the school's senior prefect. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Something I noticed about kids this days is, they're used to asking people not in their age bracket "how far", instead of good morning, afternoon or evening. when you're used to something like that, you're bound to make that same mistake in a corporate environment. |

Racoon: It's the military. Anywhere in the world, respect for superiors is held sacrosanct. I watched a video where an old Marine Sargent received his son who just made officer cadre. He saluted him and said "congratulations, SIR!" His own son! Only civilians call soldiers and other uniformed services "officer". Is the soldier a civilian? 3 Likes |
