Nigerians have to make up their minds.

As this thread tells us, several policemen were recently ambushed and killed in Delta state. Their killers are still at large. If the police had carried out a 'reprisal attack' on the surrounding villages or settlements where their men were killed - not a single post on this platform would have supported them. If the police had sacked and burnt the villages and settlements where their men were killed - the entire country would have stood up and condemned their actions - and Nigerians would have been right to do so.

As we are all aware, several soldiers were recently ambushed and killed in the same Delta state - in circumstances that are still not clear. The reaction of quite a number of Nigerians has been very odd - and it has exposed the double standards and cognitive dissonance of so many of us. On this platform, some unhinged individuals have openly supported the destruction of entire communities in Delta by the military - instead of an independent investigation into what actually happened. undecided

A proper investigation is what civilized people do.

How soon we forget. Anyone who supports the burning and sacking of entire villages and communities by the army should go read up on what happened to Victor Malu (Chief of Army Staff during the OBJ administration). Over 20 years ago - with OBJ's approval - Malu drafted soldiers to Odi (in Bayelsa State) to burn and destroy the place after some soldiers were ambushed and killed by rogue elements in Odi. The chickens came home to roost just 2 years later when some soldiers were again killed by rogue elements - but this time in Zaki Biam - in Malu's home state of Benue. Malu was no longer in the army by then and soldiers were drafted by his successor to Zaki Biam to destroy the place. Malu's country home in Tse Adoor (near Zaki-Biam) was vandalized and burnt to the ground and his blind, octogenarian uncle was killed in the military invasion. The old man's two wives were also executed. undecided

To this day, Odi and Zaki-Biam have not fully recovered. We now want to add more communities in Delta and Bayelsa to the list? undecided

We have to make up our minds on the kind of country we want. We can't have it both ways.

Security agents should wipe out all miscreants in delta state and make sure none of them remains alive but they should do that with utmost professionalism and avoid civilian casualties.
If people have the mind to kill security agents at will, then those people should be seen not as citizens of Nigeria but foreigners dwelling in Nigeria who have declared war on our security agents and as such, the security agents should clear every one of them till the last baga is brought down. Did u ask urself if the governor, local govt chairnan, divisional police quarter, even d army headquarter is aware about any peace keeping mission. So police n dsss nor fit go do peace keeping for ordinary community fight.

Our security operatives have been reduced to notin. This has been going on for ages where civilians now use army to do ur dirty jobs.. 2 communities fighting, one with upper hand using the army to oppress the other..

There is more to this fight than just wat u see on media..i cant post amything here. Its a deal/setup gone wrong.. unfortunately lives were lost

They went on a mission in one forest to free kidnap victims, they got ambushed and killed by the Fulani herdsmen... police tried concealing it ... Many are still missing sef..this happened a week before that of the soldiers
