It's sheer deception to say the first wife was happy to receive the second wife because can't be shared equally.

In my own opinion, apart from being selfish. I still don't see why a man cannot marry more than one wife.

What is the goal of marriage if not companionship, child-bearing and love. All these could be shared with another woman.

God knows that a man is capable of taking care of more women, reason why he created more women than men. But we prefer to ignore or pretend to care for those women who are unlucky to be left out.
