that nigerian own was correct, for example, lagos yoruba language is little different from ilorin own, and ekiti, oyo, osun, all are differents, and kano, kaduna and niger their hausa are differents from each other. so best yoruba was in ile-ife and oyo while other are fake. and best hausa is in kaduna and other are fake. |

Shollay20:You don't get it. Accents and dialects are not counted, it's only languages. Yoruba is one lang with many accents. Edo in South South for example has over 10 languages that each set of speakers don't understand each other. Okpella person won't understand Benin no matter how hard he tries. 1 Like |

Diversity in languages is beautiful. Among all these countries and languages mentioned and beyond,Chinese holds the exalted position as the world's most spoken Native language with about 1.2 billion speakers in China alone, with several millions more in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan, Indonesia. Spanish is the second most spoken Native language with between 500 and 600 million native speakers across Spain,USA, and Latin America. Arabic is the third most native language with about 380 million speakers across North Africa and the Middle East. 2 Likes |

MrsAminaBello: If language is natural, then ask yourself why a Yoruba or Igbo boy from a rich family is speaking English and can't speak his own dialect. Do you mean the boy naturally came with the English language? |

busybrain123:Forget all these nonsense people are saying. How can Nigeria get 524 languages. If you ask them to mention them, you'll notice that 50 are dialects of one language. In Igboland for example, we have many dialects and that's what the stupid people are classifying as languages to divide the people more. We have abakaliki , omambala, owerri, ikwerre, agbor, Onitsha, ngwa etc dialects, but are all same language of Igbo, which you'll understand if you listen deeply. For me, Nigeria languages doesn't surpass 12, others are dialects. Southern Nigeria has 5 languages, which are Igboid, yoruboid, edoid, izon and ibibiod. So where did the 524 languages came from? There are a big difference between language and dialect. What they are referring as language is actually a dialect. 1 Like |

Realtord43:Nigeria has about 250 ethnic groups (Hausa, Yoruba, Igala, Itsekiri, Shuwa Arab, Kanuri, Edo, Ebira, Tiv , Angas, Berom, Bachama, Ibibio, Efik, Ijaw, Urhobo, Isoko, Ebira, Idoma, etc). A vast number of the supposed 524 languages listed on that list are a combination of Nigerian indigenous languages and their various DIALECTS. Some of the major dialects of the Yoruba ethnic group are Oyo, Ibadan, Egba, Ijebu, Awori, Ijesa, Ekiti, Ondo, Owo, Kabba, Ketu, etc. Most of the languages listed for the U.S., UK, Netherlands, Israel, and Canada, etc, are the languages belonging to immigrant groups including the indigenous languages spoken in those countries. 2 Likes 1 Share |
