Abeg in 2000s which level of rich man be this because even as a middle class family living in koyi then our house no look like this. Biko. My dad had high taste for interior decor and electronic gadgets and tries to keep it simple.

Anyways it depends the on area he flexed his own big manism. Maybe those munshin area, Maroko or amukoko but definitely not in high brow areas like awolowo road ikoyi, okotiebor Kingsway.. grin

See as the house dey kill joy self . Even in the 80 s houses I grew up seeing didn't look like this.

In 1999 when I finished secondary school below is the shelf and tv stand my dad bought when he was changing our interior then. With very nice comfy sofa to go with it.

TV for the stand you posted wasn't common in 1999.

If you want to be honest. How many people did you know had LCD TV in 1999.

Be truthful.

When you have this type of things in your house in year 2000 you are very Rich versus in 2024 now you will be addressed as poor, why?

You should have written 1965 not 2000s. My father's house was never this ugly. If you want to see how lower middle class houses looked in 2000s watch Nollywood. As for upper middle class like myself it has always been better than the 2nd photo.

Lol. So just because the white man said all of your house should be one dull colour, you people have swallowed it…capitalism and mental slavery at its finest…Shior…

I like minimalism but not the way it is used to look superior, houses with patterns and character are ok too.

Gen Z people think year 2000 is some kind of medieval time. Not so, little rustics. A 2000 rich sitting room looks way better than what you have in your picture. Trust me.

The first picture is not a rich person's room in 2000. It's actually a student's room in 2000. My room back in the university in 2000 looked exactly like that.

If that person is alive, he would still be rich but must have improved and upgraded.
Not everybody I recently met a man who owned petrol stations but is a shadow of his former self today. As time changes, some people don't get favoured by it.

You must be a joker. In 2000!!! That pix cannot and never been that of a rich Nigerian in 2000. Middle class yes or maybe but not rich.
In 2000 the rich had big TV as in big not that tiny CCTV monitoring TV on display there. The sound system too was not that.
Please contact or reach out to a rich man or woman in 2000 and confirm how their living room was.

There were still beautiful house decor like the 2nd picture in year 2000. Those kinds of decors were always used in St Moritz adverts. Picture 1 was just a face me I face you 'rich man' setting

MadamExcellency:
Convert the value of those properties to dollar with the prevalent exchange rate at the time and recalculate the cost in Naira. That radio set is N20,000 then divided by 100 (1999/2000 exchange rate) this will give you $200.

In 2024, the radio set will cost N1400 x 200 = 280,000. Then do for the VCR and the Television.
Go school u no gree. Come here and ve spewing rubbish...

The radio currently sold for 20k in 2024 is better than that ur 20k year 2000 radio

In the Year 2000, if you have 5K, you are a Big Man! smiley

Then with N100, you can eat Rice, Stew and small fish in a Buka. sad

But now 5K can't even feed a person well for Two days! embarassed undecided
Lol with ₦100 then you can eat rice, plantain, beans, fish and meat in a buka.

Talking from experience.

In the year 2000 as a primary school pupil, my lunch money was always ₦40 to use and eat.
I will buy rice ₦15, beans ₦10, plantain ₦5, meat ₦5 and buy ice water ₦2.50 kobo.

Hold the remaining ₦2.50 for coconut biscuit.
