Admit you goofed with that early comment.
Do you go into manufacturing of anything without addressing the issue of electricity? The cost of production will be too high and they may not compete.

Did she just say we have the market? Lmaooo please we don't

Nigeria bought less than 20,000 cars last year South African bought 500,000 during the same period

20,000 is not good enough to sustain an industry

Worse still is the fact that over 80% of that less than 20,000 cars are used ( accidented cars no body wants)

All this Jamboree makes no sense.. The focus now should be to grow the GDP per capita of Nigeria to say $10k to $15k once we achieve that the rest is easy

I might not have the correct data, but I still think your numbers are way off the mark. Let's say 20,000 cars were sold in 2022; that means approx. 55 cars per day, then 1-2 cars per state, including the FCT. There is no way only 1-2 cars are sold daily, even in Nigeria's least developed state. Perhaps you meant 200,000?

How many times must we educate you MORO.NS?

THERE IS ZERO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MANUFACTURING A VEHICLE AND WHAT YOU CALL 'ASSEMBLY'.

It means THE SAME THING.

It is only in NIGERIA that some illiterate suffering from inferiority complex invented a 'difference' between the two terms, some years back.

Outside Nigeria there is ZERO difference recognised.

In fact US car manufacturing plants are called 'car assemblies'.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_automotive_assembly_plants_in_the_United_States

If you are talking about building the various parts of the vehicle, NO CAR PLANT ON EARTH DOES THAT.

Do you have any idea the level of all-round expertise required to build ALL the components of a vehicle?

It is not something that is done by a single company.

You have companies that simply manufacture brakes. That's all they do.

Then some manufacture just the carburetor.

Some manufacture gear systems!

Some make just tyres.

Some build steering wheel!

We are talking huge plants that just produce ONE part.

The car manufacturing company SOURCES the parts from various specialist manufacturers and then combine all to 'ASSEMBLE' the vehicle.

In-house they might build the body of the vehicle and the seats, dashboard etc, like INNOSON does.

Or they could outsource that too.

The actual production of the vehicle is done on the Assembly Line.

So there is nothing like ''did you manufacture or did you assemble?'

It's an illiterate distinction.

Car manufacturing is Car assembly
Sometimes I wonder how people do not know this. One of the most valuable companies in the world, Apple Inc., does not even manufacture its own phone display, camera, or battery, these are all outsourced and manufactured by third-party companies to Apple's specifications and design. (Yes, Apple's competitor, Samsung among other companies, produces phone displays for Apple.)

But one of the key parts of their product and any product in this modern era is the software component which is proprietary and owned wholly by Apple. This software ensures all those outsourced parts can communicate and understand each other. People need to understand that times are changing.

The data is quoting Brand New Cars and not Tokunbo or Nigerian used cars. How many Nigerians buy tear rubber cars? Most new cars are bought by government officials and big corporations, while the ordinary citizens go for used cars.
