Who are those who kept quiet when Buhari did all these things?
We know them. Call their names. Don't paint everyone with same brush.
Besides, how far with the university and rail Buhari built now? Where's the Anchor Borrowers Scheme now?
If you mean Tinubu's big idea is to run the same scam that was perpetrated by Buhari and you expect us to clap for him because it's his turn to do it then you need to check your brain.

I didn't expect anything better from a born hater of good news.

The coastal highway being built is of economic importance to the Southern States and the entire nation. If you can't get that into your blocked head then shut up

Whether it passes through due process or not, let the road be constructed so that it can benefit Nigerians.

A lot of contracts for projects had passed through the due processes before, and the projects were never completed. For some, work never commenced. Contractors did not come to site.

Abuja/Lokoja Expressway for example, is a little over 200 kilometres. Work commenced during Obasanjo tenure, 20 years after, it is still not completed.

Now the government is matching words with action, but all some people do, is to complain and criticise. What do we want for God's sake?

Nigerians would go to the banking halls, supermarkets, bus stops etc and do not want to join queues, yet they are quick to talk about due process. Nobody follows due process in Nigeria.

Here is Atiku that refused to cede presidential ticket to the South pontificating, just to score cheap political marks.

Thank you BAT for the project.
So if a project that passed through due process was never completed, it's the one that didn't pass through that will be completed abi?
Educate yourself
The contractor was supposed to fund the whole project but he couldn't even get the money to start the project and had to be gifted N1.06trn without appropriation and that's the company you think will complete the project. A company that can't get money to start 50km out of 700km will get money to complete the remaining 650km?
You're very smart

Buhari built a transport university in his home state you all didn't see anything wrong with it, all the social benefits and cash transfer were channeled to the north, and anchor borrower funds were mostly benefited by northerner farmers.

Buhari seeks a loan to construct a road linking northern Nigeria with the Niger in Maradi you all kept quiet.

Now that Tinubu decided to construct a road in the south linking 9 states with coastal lines you all go berserk.

What is the color of your hatred and jealousy that you so much detest development that would benefit the Southerners and the entire country?

How is a coastal high way in all ramifications better than a coastal railway. In terms of efficiency and long term benefits a railway trumps road.
With the added advantage of reducing the incidence of conformational changes to businesses and the environment.

And a much cheaper option would be to provide more ports along the coastal axis.

Why we continue to engage in wastefulness at the expense of human capital and development is bemusing.

Side note: can they complete the refineries already?

I thought electricity was to have been properly developed during the OBJ tenure, but because someone had the license to import generators nationwide that aspect of development was left unattended to!

Normal people criticize the project.

That project though commendable is questionable and I doubt it followed due process .
The contract sum itself is bogus.

Is the coastal high going to benefit everyone? Yes
Will it help to decongest and lead to development for all 9 states involved? Yes!
Is it a needed infrastructure at this time? Yes
Will it be done at little or no cost to the FG coffers? Maybe
Are both Atiku led PDP and Bayo Onanuga led APC playing politricks? Yes
Is HiTech a capable construction company with proven track record? Yes

What is our problem really?
Let us endeavour to encourage good ideas instead of criticisms, complaints and tribal and religious ethnocentrism.

sad

Unfortunately I did not see any serious rebuttal from the presidential aid concerning Atiku's allegation.

Atiku might be a serial interloper but on this coastal road issue I agree with him completely.

Tinubu contract award to Hitech and the decision to commence from the Eko Atlantic city axis reeks of personal interest giving the relationship between Chagoury and the current president.

The Eko Atlantic project championed by Chagoury has been in limbo for decades now due to sluggish major investment and capital inflow.

Awarding this contract to Hitech was intended to achieve two major things; one re-energise the eko Atlantic city project by creating alternative access way and more importantly create enough funds through the huge contract sum to bring the city development plan back on track.

But yet again, that project is a game changer if it is executed to completion barring the hidden intrigues.

What the immediate past government of Mohammadu Buhari executed in Daura in his 8 years tenure will still dwarf anything Tinubu can contrive even if ask to serve for 16 year.

Stop deceiving yourself and face reality. The project is to advance eko Atlantic and it will only benefit Lebanese and tinubu people. They are the ones who will build coastal estate like eko Atlantic around the corridor of the new road. Why isn’t the private business owner develop it the road themselves since it will only serve their interest. Money that could have been used in fixing dire need of southern roads but being wasted in a private man business. If you are not on the Lebanese family that will enjoy this you better shit it.

So why embark on two projects that offer near equivalence in terms of economic value at the expense of tax payers. I think it goes without saying that the Nigerian economy is not at the epicenter of this project and it’s just sad that in the face of all the country’s woes the government still engages in wastefulness.

Rail would take a shorter period to complete.
Laying tracks is an all weather affair.
Lagos port deliverables, industry products, and commuters can easily be trafficked with a robust rail system. The road is not a pressing need.
The road can come at a time when we are richer as a people.

This watery rebuttal by Bayo Onanuga further confirms that Tinubu has a penchant for dubious and shady deals.

Bayo Onanuga didn't say anything about the entire cost of the project, which is being shrouded in secrecy. He didn't say anything about the fact that the Tinubu administration did claim that the project would be at no cost to the federal government, but turned around suddenly to approve a huge sum of N1.06 trillion that would be paid to the construction firm for the first phase of the project.

Bayo Onanuga said nothing about the fact that the construction firm handling this huge project is owned by Gilbert Chagoury, a known ally of Tinubu. Bayo Onanuga also didn't say anything about the reputation of the construction firm, Hitech, or their penchant for abandoned projects. It is public knowledge that this same Hitech was unable to complete the 50-kilometer Lekki-Epe expressway despite installing two tollgates along the axis.

Instead of providing answers to the vital questions raised by Atiku, Bayo Onanuga went berserk like a tribal and ethnic bigot that he is, dancing naked in the market, disgracing himself and his drug lord.
Bayo is plain stupid.

I don't see it as wasteful. The road is important, there are people living around that axis that will not need a train to get to their close destination.
Your problem is that you feel it's a right project but wrong timing, I feel it's a right project and right timing.
With recent strengthening of the naira believe we'll be able to fund the project and other massive project.
Our focus should also be on wasteful state governors who don't fix roads within their jurisdiction

Foolish comment with neither head or tail
Name too project constructed in Nigeria from 1960 till date that catered for the interest or benefit of the common populace.

dejol88:
Since discussions began regarding the construction of a coastal road from Lagos to Calabar, the pace of approval has been notably lacking. It was initially conveyed that the company responsible for constructing this road would self-finance the project, only for the Minister of Works to subsequently demand funds for its implementation.

Furthermore, upon examining the individuals involved in this venture, one cannot overlook the connection to the owner of Eko Atlantic. It is my belief that these individuals are aiming to expand their influence over all our coastal regions. It seems unlikely that this project will benefit the common populace, as funds that could be allocated to address other pressing needs are being squandered on initiatives that primarily serve the interests of the affluent.

You just being pained that the project starts from Lagos and terminates at Calabar covering SW and SS states. I know you are not from either of the regions that's why your hatred has blinded you from seeing the benefit of this huge infrastructural project.

No one said the Kano --Maradi project doesn't have economic value, it is bitter soul like you who castigate everything that doesn't emanate from your tiny region.

Buhari has done so much for the north, let Tinubu also do for the South after all it is the same Nigeria, but if you are not pleased kindly relocate to Biafraland. A Biafrian has no say in how Nigerians run their country
