Every ethnic group in Nigeria had one form of movement or the other. Those movements ended centuries before the arrival of Dan fodio and his jihadists. Hausa is commonly spoken in the North but most of the Northerners have other tongues distinct from Hausa. Inter marriages have also affected native tongues especially amongst Muslims who hardly retain their tongues even if they are of the same tongue.
